I can't get it out of my head now. The damage I might be doing to 2 soon to be 3 computers. The fourth I don't care about it's inexpensive and not at all critical. Also, do you plug the VR into the surge protector? merle - vote yes for freedom of speech |

Just get a UPS that can handle all three, or get one UPS per computer... Most decent ones have a VR and will protect your equipment. |

Each 1 of my rigs runs on a 700W Cyberpower UPS (I live in the country where brownouts abound and blackouts are often during summer). My 3570K tower draws 340W through its and my 2500K tower draws another 100W over that from its, so the 3570K's 1 gets to power 2 monitors while the other powers the network switch and a set of speakers. I get 5mins to get things saved before the PC's start shutting themselves down. Cheers. |

I did not know I opened a big can of worms with my VR comment. My rig has a ups with a built in VR. If you do not have one then plug the VR into the wall first to start smoothing out the power and plug the surge protector into the VR. Now I may be a little paranoid. That and I did not like the outlet arrangement on my ups. So I used a Power Squid surge protector to hook in my rig. The flexibility of the plugin outlets is outstanding. |

I hang power strips off of my UPS as well, but I don't bother with ones that have built in surge protection. The UPS has me covered there. Sometimes I just need more outlets, outlets spaced further apart, or a slight extension for something that is to far form the UPS. I just really liked the design. I have several wall worts and didn't want any blocked outlets. It just happened to be a surge protector. |
