Well, it could be worse...a lot of DLP's lamps cost more.

Usually they last about 1.5-2.0 years, sigh. A Vizio 60" Smart LCD LED TV will set Me back $797.99, if I were to buy that tv now, but that will wait until about June 2016. By then the price will probably have dropped some.

How long have you used that one?

The 57" Mitsubishi that I'm using now? Since Oct 2006. Oh the lamp, months, maybe since April or May of this year.

It shouldn't go this fast! Maybe it or a connection is loose.

The lamp module(that houses the lamp) doesn't have any exposed wires or anything lose, resetting the TV, adjusts the TV to the lamps new power level, which eventually means the lamp becomes useless, though the module can be used over again with a new lamp, simple hand tools are required, but the new lamp must not be touched with ungloved hands, the hands can leave an oily deposit that can burn the lamp out I'm told, the only tools needed are a phillips screwdriver and/or needle nose pliers, it has been a while since I saw the inside of a module.
