It's just amazing to me those things get off the ground, much less stay in the air. The mind is a weird and mysterious place |

It's just amazing to me those things get off the ground, much less stay in the air. Never thought of it that way, but to answer your question, I vote ugly duckling. I always liked the Concorde design; kind of reminded me of the Delorean car. The mind is a weird and mysterious place |

Remember the Guppy aircraft that NASA used to transport rocket parts back in the 60s - 80s? These are their offspring..... Donald Infernal Optimist / Submariner, retired |

I find the current catch, or is it shoal? of these super size carriers have a functional beauty. It's just amazing to me those things get off the ground, much less stay in the air. From what I understand, they don't fly as well as the original aircraft. Every aircraft has limits as to what you can do with them and when they change the body that much, they have to change the maximum speed, takeoff speed, G load and degrees of banking to keep them in safe limits. Somebody who flew the craft before it was altered needs to be retrained to handle it after modifications. |

It's just amazing to me those things get off the ground, much less stay in the air. I watched a video a few months ago of a cargo plane that fell out of the sky and it was theorized the contents shifted around during flight and that obviously affected the ability to control and maintain altitude. It's just amazing to me those things get off the ground, much less stay in the air. Yes, center of gravity is extremely important to keeping an aircraft controllable in flight. |

Yes that was National Airlines Flight 102 (a 747 cargo jet) taking off from Afghanistan in April of last year, I remember that well. Cheers. |

Airplanes are kind of like kids. The one you work on is the most beautiful airplane in the world - to you. |

Spruce Goose might be thought of as one {pun fully intended} I am not quite certain that one ever flew outside of ground effect. BOINC WIKI |
