Message 1588891 - Posted: 19 Oct 2014, 18:16:41 UTC - in response to Message 1588889.

Carolyn is running again:)

It was shown as running a couple hours ago, but "replica seconds behind master" is still reporting "offline." queries/sec is unusually high (over 3000), and the RTS buffer has flatlined with creation rate being over 30/sec.

Lot of hungry caches and rigs out there.

I'm just glad the "Workunits waiting for validation" has started going down instead of up.

I'm just glad Carolyn shows as running on the SSP.

Everyone being present and accounted for is always a good thing.

Well, I got to my 11th "completed task" for APv7.. time to start filling the cache with realistic ETA'ed tasks:
2014-10-20 00:23:57 SETI@home [sched_op_debug] CPU work request: 2116467.91 seconds; 0.00 CPUs

Got to love the use of "completed" there.
It always throws me off when I see something like.
Number of tasks completed	127
Consecutive valid tasks 389

The might consider changing "Number of tasks completed" to "Number of tasks applied to APR". Since most of the wold has a very different definition of what "completed" means vs how it is being used.

Even more confusing is this one:
Max tasks per day	52
Number of tasks today	91

So...what exactly are the arbitrary limits for in the first place?

Because of the method BOINC uses to calculate the APR. In ver6 if the first ten results had either high blanking or 100% blanking then the APR would be way out.

This is what happened to one of my computers when I did a rebuild and BOINC failed to recognise it as the old one and gave it a new registration number. I brought it up here and Joe looked at the problem and got the limits applied.
The initial APR for that computer was over twice the correct value and it took months, if not a year, to get the APR correct and the estimated run time correct.

If it had happened the other way, 100% blanking, then it would take months before your work unit cache would be correct.

Feels like "old-Seti", I had to reload this thread three times to get all of it in. BOINC forums are slow loading as well and throwing database errors. So either both have database trouble, or Campus is being spammed.

Now, let's see if we can post.

Well, I did think that I'm only one but I'm not. I haven't got any database errors but these forums and S@H -pages are really slow to load.

Perhaps still same problems why S@H was down last weekend?

Think so, also takes a while to post, account page also loads slow atm, forums and homepage are quick.

I open a new tab, otherwise my post keeps loading. Also noticed editing a post goes quicker and it takes a while for the boards to refresh the threads.

Same here.

Edit: Another tab where I did post message above is still loading, but I can edit it in new tab.

Edit2: This is not funny anymore, just have to use two tabs to read messages what You just did write ;)

Edit3: Only editing Your message will show what You just did write :D

Perhaps it's an Internet backbone issue. Everything's loading normally for me, but I'm only about 100 miles from Berkeley.

EDIT: Interesting. Just editting for the sake of editting, but still pretty much instantaneous here!

Oh yeah, everything is very slow on SETI's pages. This thread takes several minutes to load for example. All SETI pages seems to be buried in molasses.

Yeah well, who's in a hurry :-)

If someone doesn't fix the ap assimilators soon it will probably crash altogether. The number of 'Valid' continues to rise and will continue to slow the database until it pukes. My machine usually runs around 120 'Valid' and rarely rises above an 'All' number of 600. it's now reading;
State: All (1817) · In progress (390) · Validation pending (264) · Validation inconclusive (10) · Valid (1151)
The numbers on the SSP are for AP v6...Not AP v7.
Look at other people's numbers, http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/top_hosts.php
