Hey.
I have an old Packard Bell with a upgraded CPU AMD 2 x 3 GHz processor and a CUDA able Nvidia GeForce 6800 GT gfx, standing in a wardrobe, with Ubuntu 14.04. I don't use the computer to other things than Boinc projects. Propretarian Nvidia drivers I use. According to http://boinc.berkeley.edu/wiki/GPU_computing my machine would be able to use GPU on Seti@home.
But how do I do, to activate GPU calculation? Think I have all CUDA package I have found in synaptic.
boinc-nvidia-cuda
nvidia-profiler
nvidia-cuda-toolkit
nvidia-visual-profiler
nvidia-cuda-gdb

BOINC are version 7.2.42 (x64), default from apt.

In the Boinc manager under "Properties of project SETI@home" it says, under Scheduling, "Don't fetch tasks for NVIDIA GPU -- Projects has no apps for NVIDIA GPU

I also run climateprediction.net, but they are not able to use GPU in there projects, but that should SETI@home do.

Here are some information on me and my machine. May you see the information?

PS. There are also a VGA gfx on the mother board, but I have inactivated it in Bios. May It be better to use that for the display, instead the extra GFX, or may it only get problems?

Cheers /Johan Nilsson, Sweden

Seti does not have a default CUDA or OpenCL application for GPUs. Only for Windows and Macintosh.

Seti has an Astropulse application for Linux, but not the standard Multibeam one. Which is what it says for you:
In the Boinc manager under "Properties of project SETI@home" it says, under Scheduling, "Don't fetch tasks for NVIDIA GPU -- Projects has no apps for NVIDIA GPU

Astropulse are only available when the tapes have just been loaded, like now.
They need to be separately enabled in the project preferences:
Run only the selected applications:
SETI@home v7: yes
AstroPulse v6: yes
Of course, you'll also need to enable the Nvidia GPU in the project preferences. And do that on the correct venue (location).

And I was wrong, there is no GPU app for the Mac.

Thanx.
I also deselect "Use CPU, enforced by 6+" in SETI@home preferencces.

I have also deselected SETI@home enhanced, should I do that?

My CPU-cores work with climatechange.net.

There is box 'Location' at the bottom of computer page:
http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/show_host_detail.php?hostid=7332229

(the old name for Location is venue)

Also 'separate preferences for .....' can be set on:
Computing preferences
SETI@home preferences

If you changed the 'Location' of the computer and you have created 'separate preferences for [that Location]' make sure to change/look at the "correct venue (location)"
