Will get back on weekly weigh-in sched on Wednesday. Remembered to step on the scale this morning - 233. Now will it continue to drop, or will I just cycle back and forth in the band? Donald Infernal Optimist / Submariner, retired |

Hello everyone ! Morning weigh-ins for the past week oscillate between 180.00 and 181.5. At the end of august I started scaling back the running from ~250km/month to ~150km/month and ramping up the weight training program I started in July. I expect to replace most of the running with cross-country skiing when the snow sets in for good. Also adjusting the nutrition side of things to cut back a bit on carbs and get some more protein in to align my intake with the shift in activity. Lately my weight has been steady at 181 but my pants keep getting looser, which was the intended result. Looks like I am having some success in modifying my body composition and lowering my BMI. I plan to keep the general parameters pretty much as they are now up until spring. Main objective for this winter is to be able to do at least one pull-up. If I can do it before the winter is over I might push the target up to five reps. mambo |

OK - who's the jokester??? This week I only lost 0.3 lbs!!! :( Kinda discouraging; but, I'm keeping up with the Atkins plan. Also noticed a mistake in my calculations of my last post. Instead of -13; it should have read -18 pounds - Grand Total Net Weight Lost. So: Lost: 0.3 lbs. Grand Total Net Weight Lost: -17.7 (Trying to get back to a GTNWL: 0; or back to the original 20 lb. loss I had a good long while back. Once I'm at that point, any NEW weight loss goes toward my long term goal of getting to 140 lbs.) TL TimeLord04 Have TARDIS, will travel... Come along K-9! Join Calm Chaos |

Go TimeLord! 180.8 this morning so still hovering as far as weight is concerned. However I have a reached a milestone in the body geometry department. I have been using the same leather belt for at least 5 years, maybe more, and when I commited to weight loss I wore it at its longest on the fifth notch. And it strained. I am happy to report that this very belt is now being worn comfortably at its shortest on the first notch. The notches are exactly one inch apart so I've shrunk the circumference of my gut by four inches. Pretty satisfied with that. So no weight loss but definite progress nonetheless since this is what I was aiming for since late august. I persist in saying that clearly defined goals and specific targeted actions taken to achieve them is how progress is made. My mind already works like this but some of you may enjoy the formalized version of this thought by reading up here : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SMART_criteria mambo |

Update: Lost another pound. Grand Total Net Weight Lost: -16.7 So, I need to lose 16.7 pounds more to get back to where I was before... I will get there. :-) Atkins Plan is going well; just wish the weight would come off faster. But, we don't always get what we wish for... :-O TL TimeLord04 Have TARDIS, will travel... Come along K-9! Good work, TL!!! I shall have to remember to weigh myself on Monday. I've really been trying to eat a little less and move a little more. |

Good work, TL!!! I shall have to remember to weigh myself on Monday. I've really been trying to eat a little less and move a little more. Thanks Angela, and thank you too Francis!!! :-) The REALLY good news is that as of today, I tightened my belt another notch!!! :-O :-) Now, I'm on the fourth notch of the belt; three notches left to go, and I will fit into my older jeans!!! :-) I just have to stick to the Atkins Plan, and the weight will come off. ...Slowly, but it will come off. :-) TL TimeLord04 Have TARDIS, will travel... Will get back on weekly weigh-in sched on Wednesday. I DID weigh myself Wednesday morning, just forgot to post it - 232. I think I'm also converting belly fat to muscle mass, since my pants fit differently now, and my legs seem to be toning up. Lots of walking, some light lifting, at work. I'm becoming addicted to Caffeine-Free Diet Coke. ~Calorie free, and makes me sleepy, so I can't eat. ;~) One of the simpler tricks to eating less is to drink something (preferably water or a non-carbonated beverage) before the meal. The liquid eases the hunger pangs, and you feel full sooner. Donald Infernal Optimist / Submariner, retired |

I'm becoming addicted to Caffeine-Free Diet Coke. ~Calorie free, and makes me sleepy, so I can't eat. ;~) Since I take 12+ Meds a day, (plus some supplements), I HAVE to drink LOTS of water. Currently, I drink 120 Oz. of ice water a day. To do this, I take my 7-Eleven 64 Oz. Big Gulp Mug, and fill it three times a day. (The Mug is actually closer to 40 Oz. on the inside area; the rest seems to be for insulation of cold liquids.) I don't think you'd manage the meds, or the water I drink, David. Thankfully; I've always preferred drinking water as opposed to sodas, and flavored teas... I was never really a lemonade fan, either. TL TimeLord04 Have TARDIS, will travel... Come along K-9! One of the simpler tricks to eating less is to drink something (preferably water or a non-carbonated beverage) before the meal. The liquid eases the hunger pangs, and you feel full sooner. I currently take 3 meds, 3 supplements, and a low-dose aspirin in the morning; 5 meds and 1 supplement with dinner, and 1 of each at bedtime. One of the morning ones is Invokana, which causes increased urination for the first few hours, causing me to cut back on water during that time so I'm not constantly running off. (On really hot days when I'm at the museum or otherwise in danger of getting dehydrated, I'll skip the Invokana.) On the other hand, after my kidney stones a few years ago, my urologist said caffeinated sodas, especially dark colas, increase the likelihood of stones, so I cut way down on such. Initially, I switched to unsweetened tea (adding Splenda), but in the last few months I've been trying to avoid caffeine altogether, which does seem to help me sleep better at night. So now I drink mostly diet root beer or orange soda (but Sunkist has caffeine) or water. Diet Cherry 7UP isn't bad either. And yes, Caffeine-free Diet Coke if I find it on fountain and can add some flavor squirts to it. Don't like it in a can, though.
