Well done Donald. Down here on the flatlands, in town, California-approved "Safe-n-Sane" fireworks are allowed. (Safe-n-sane: 500 grains of powder max, cannot go airborne, cannot explode, sparks/shower cannot go more then 10 feet above top of fountain, etc....) Sales are reserved for non-profit organizations like churches, Veterans Service Organizations, Service Clubs (Rotary, Lions, Kiwanis). And we can only sell for about 6 days leading up to Independence Day. Some morons bring aerial rockets, firecrackers, bottle-rockets, etc., in from Nevada or Mexico, but it's a $1000 fine if you get caught with them. And if you start a fire with them....... Many cities are cancelling their aerial fireworks displays, either because of cost or drought. There was an item on the news tonight that Bass Lake is cancelling their 70-year-old fireworks show and substituting a Lazar/music show. The lake is so low, they could not get the barges, that normally hold the fireworks launchers, out to the middle of the lake. And no fireworks, of any kind, are allowed in foothill areas because of dry brush and other fire hazards. Donald Infernal Optimist / Submariner, retired |

I hope it all goes well Donald, Been working well for as long as I can remember. The few fires we have during the Independence Day period are usually due to illegal fireworks or idiots trying to make their own (and the occasional meth lab explosion. Damn drug dealers....) Some 30ish years ago, I think, we were having a bit of a drought and they canceled our fireworks, but rain came and they had them for Labor Day instead. David Sitting on my butt while others boldly go, Waiting for a message from a small furry creature from Alpha Centauri. |

Wednesday morning weigh-in AFTER Vets Coffee Club - 241. Wednesday 2015/07/08 - 239. Weak low-pressure system kept the temps down to around 100F, so it wasn't as hot as a couple years ago. Looks like I ate and drank just enough to maintain my energy levels. Donald Infernal Optimist / Submariner, retired |
