The dollar is worth squat because the USA debt ceiling is not zero.

BS the dollar or any other currency is worth what people think it is, just as stocks are. We could go into a discussion about Kenysian economics but I doubt that would be productive, your beliefs and mine are quite different on that subject therefore we could not agree on a common set of assumptions.

Clyde i think you will be surprised mate as they do know , and why they have stopped giving you more than the 2 trillion you already owe them . It mite be you guys that get into trouble as 2 trillion is something they can absorbed and won't cause them to crash and burn .

Well don't be surprised then if they stop doing business with you .

You may not be aware there still very weary of America because of the Asian currency crisis back in the early 2000's . I believe they are doing things to limit any damage you guys can do to them economically . That's why they stopped at 2 trillion they realized you guys could use it to control them . So don't underestimate them . They may still be a communist country but they are not silly and understand economics very well .

You didn't quote in context. Obviously the question being asked was relative to other currencies over time. That implies what you say about what people think it is worth or its future worth, or how much of its value will be lost to servicing the debt relative to other currencies and their future debt service levels.

And you are right, we would never agree if having any long term debt is good social policy. I think we might be able to agree that it is possible to have too much long term debt. I suspect we would argue over the shape of the curve of benefit of debt between zero and too much, much the same as the arguments over the shape of the Laffer curve.

Metal Currency was cut into smaller pieces, or made into Gold, Silver, and Copper Rings, as done during the Trojan Era.

We didnt have so much gold here but lots of copper.
And metal prices goes up and down.
Today the 19kg plate value is about $140.
A tax collection man is said to have written to Queen Christina, and regrets that he could not collect taxes, for he had no means of transportation if you paid him with plates.

haha

And soon the richest men in the world can't have more zeroes behind the first 1 because of storage limitations.

I work all night, I work all day, to pay the bills I have to pay
Ain't it sad
And still there never seems to be a single penny left for me
That's too bad
In my dreams I have a plan
If I got me a wealthy man
I wouldn't have to work at all, I'd fool around and have a ball...

Money, money, money
Must be funny
In the rich man's world
Money, money, money
Always sunny
In the rich man's world
Aha-ahaaa
All the things I could do
If I had a little money
It's a rich man's world

Actually its Youtube who knows where you are.
They select video adds from the country you are in.
I think even in the town you are in.
Otherwise we wouldn't have Youtube.

Which remainds of economics.
How can the economy allow this?
Free TV for nothing as long you accept adds.

Money for nothing!

All the commercial stations here have adds even the gov run ones only they don't have so many . It's called Free to Air over here . We have 33 Digital stations in my area . They got to get money some how to pay for there costs . Can be annoying but better than paying Rupert Murdoch's pay T.V Foxtel which is $80 per month for a basic subscription on a 12 month plan

We have the same system as England.
Free SVT like BBC without adds and lots of Commercial channels, 150 I Think.
Still you have to pay the provider a monthly fee to see mostly craps and adds. But the adds is in HD so why complain!
