Howdy folks, I'm having Problems with UBUNTU 14.04 after having to do a Fresh install I had a system failure when It wanted to do a lot more updates.
However when I do these updates it will crash Again.
I couldn't even get the HD to reformat to NTFS so I could put in Win XP 32 bit.
Any suggestions? Does anyone out there have a Win 7 32 bit disk...I have a set of numbers from a broken win 7 Pro 64 bit that I could try with a 32 bit version.

*Mods You can move this to Q&A if you think it would be better there.

I couldn't even get the HD to reformat to NTFS ...

Get Hiren’s BootCD 10.6
http://www.hirensbootcd.org/hbcd-v106/

It have Acronis Disk Director 10.0.2160
Use it to remove all Partitions, create new one and format it to NTFS

(do not get newer than Hiren’s BootCD 10.6 - they have removed Acronis Disk Director (and other programs))

Yes, don't go back to XP if you have a copy of Windows 7. ;-P

Does anyone out there have a Win 7 32 bit disk...I have a set of numbers from a broken win 7 Pro 64 bit that I could try with a 32 bit version.

Windows 7 32bit ISO from my personal server.

That should work with all OEM keys, don't know if it will work with retail keys or not.

Any reason why you don't want to use the 64bit version of Windows 7 Pro?

I still can't figure out why my old Partition Magic wouldn't do the job.?

If I had to take a wild guess, and seizing upon your usage of the term 'old', my guess is that your copy of Partition Magic doesn't understand/see the ext4 filesystem used by Ubuntu.

Did you get any error messages in Partition Magic? Did the drive even show up?

Nope, The drive didn't even show.
Also I just got My RMAed EVGA card back and they upgraded Me to a GTX 660 which is good I hope.
Also when I put an ATI HD 4770 in that box *The WIN 7 32 bit it trashed every GPU WU* that it tried to do. So I ran lunatics V42 installer again and stopped running All GPU WUs. Odd because both of My HD 4770s worked fine on this box ID: 7258562. Now I'm scared to put the other HD 4770 in My Dell Dual core box...CRAP!

Did all of the tasks on the 4770 end with this?
Error : Building Program (source, clBuildProgram):main kernels: not OK code -11
Error: Requested compile size is bigger than the required workgroup size of 64 elements
Error: Creating kernel GPU_fetch_array_kernel_twin_1D_cl failed!

Yeah, according to the Wikipedia article for Partition Magic, the last stable release was v8.05 released in 2004, and that it had "somewhat limited support for ext2 and ext3". I think it is safe to say that ext4 is right out too new for Partition Magic to handle.

The Setup routine/process for Windows 7 should be able to see and remove the ext4 filesystem though.

No, I aborted them.
This was the only line that was the same;

It looks like they Erred on the Known Problem on older cards with the AstroPulse r2399 App that's included with Lunatics 0.42. They have released Lunatics 0.42a to fix that problem. Or, you can replace the 'Bad' AP App manually. Anything lower than r2399 will work, just remember to remove the Binary created by r2399...if any were created.

... just remember to remove the Binary created by r2399

Lunatics installer will remove the Bin* files
And even with manual installation of other app version this remove is not mandatory as the files are since long time versioned with rXXXX

(this remove is only needed for 'old' apps when changing driver version)

I did an uninstall of Lunatics version 0.42...That should have removed everything, Shouldn't it?

I don't know, I never did uninstall
I know installation (over stock or over Lunatics) removes .exe .dll .bin* ... (moves them to oldApp_backup)

Why don't you check by yourself in SETI@home directory (<BOINC_Data>\projects\setiathome.berkeley.edu\)

Since .bin* files are Not put there by the installation (instead, they are generated on first app run) I doubt the uninstall will remove them

You can safely install Lunatics version 0.42a
(it have the older OpenCL AstroPulse apps (that work on ATI Radeon HD 4700/4800) + the new CPU apps ...
i.e. it is the same as v0.42 except for OpenCL AstroPulse apps (for ATI and NVIDIA) which are the older 'compatible' apps
)
