Lost a lot of hours worked!
Does a restart f2 into bios cause computation errors in seti?
That is how on win8.1 I have to get into bios with a restart, then f2.

Crunching doesn't begin until you're in Windows. When you're in the BIOS, you're not in Windows, so no crunching is occurring. As such, it cannot cause computation errors.

Sometimes Windows can be less than graceful when stopping BOINC & the science apps during a reboot or system shutdown. I have seen thins on versions of Windows from XP to 8.2 & Server versions.
If you have a system where this happens often when restarting just manually shutdown BOINC before you restart.

You might also try this. Using the advanced view of the manager click the File tab, then exit. The pop-up exit dialog should appear, check both boxes, then ok. By enabling this, I've never had a problem with BOINC shutting down gracefully. I'm on Win7, but I can't see this creating problems with Win 8/8.1/8.2.

Thanks folks,
It all helps me get up to speed.
I want to stay with this project of AP for the foreseeable future.

I wonder what went into the thinking of the AP application. Was the
first priority ETI or was it seeing Einstein morph from gravitation
waves to pulsars or what exactly was in their minds. Unknown primordial black holes? The unknown meaning of these strange pulses? Anybody have knowledge of what was going on back then? Or simply a way to increase participation with something new?
