My first (and last) experience to make my own beer ended with a explosion. Messy thing.
But it was very funny in the beginning.
Checking the fermentation.
Bacterias who are eating sugar and as a result produces alcohol.
I takes time to get that skill to make good beer.

Cheers

Yeast i'd hope, not bacteria.

Easy enough to not get explosions, just make sure nothing is contained without some method of release until the fermentation has stopped.
Life on earth is the global equivalent of not storing things in the fridge.

I forgot:) Yeast are fungus.
Brewer's yeast is specially formulated yeast for brewing beer. There are mainly two kinds of beer yeast: In Yeast (also known lager yeast) and the yeast (also referred ale yeast). The yeast consumes sugar and give instead of alcohol, carbon dioxide and some flavoring

If I remember right it is Carlsberg who 'made' the yeast used for lager.

And about explosions. I'm not the only one :D

Many lager yeasts were invented by Louis Pasteur, who wrote a book about them containing a very specific instruction that it never be translated in german, as he hated germany because of the franco-prussian war.

He was the first to discover how yeast works.
And he found ways to use them against microbs.
But making lager yeasts?

Cheers anyway.

PS Now I'm having a Cold one with some Tortilla Chips:)
Election day today!

Bottled a new brew yesterday evening.

It's a dark ale with hint of blackberries. (Blackberries from the garden).

We are both right:)

Louis Pasteur and Carlsberg Cure the ‘Beer Disease’
Hansen’s yeast - saccharomyces carlsbergensis - was freely offered to other breweries when their yeast became infected and was soon made available around the world. It still forms the basis of all lager brewing today.
http://www.carlsberggroup.com/Company/heritage/Research/Pages/Pasteur.aspx
I was remembering it right. They have the original yeast secured in a locked safe. Saw that in some documentary years ago.

"Perikles. can you tell me? When does a Tuborg tastes best?"
"Everytime"

Cheers to Dr Emil Hansen from the Carlsberg Laboratory.

G'morning everyone, though there's not much of the morning left here.

Mike, it's good to hear that you got the bubble on. :-D

The Simonator, looking good there. ;-)

Julie, it's good to hear that your beer o'clocks are back to normal.

I'm still trying to catch up on the last several days myself though I've just sterilised my fermenter out again and in 10mins I'll be back at it putting a 50L spirit wash down. :-)

Beer O'clock in 90mins.

Cheers.
