Message 1582825 - Posted: 7 Oct 2014, 1:25:33 UTC - in response to Message 1582374.

Since there is no Dinner thread, I'll put it here, I had Pizza for dinner, a frozen rising crust Supreme pizza, yum, it came from Stater Bros Market, not bad for $3.99 total.

Pizza is a universal meal - dinner, lunch, breakfast, snack, etc. That being said, I want to find a low-sodium frozen pizza. My mom doesn't like salty food, and pizza is a bad offender.

In her last few years, my mother was on an extremely low salt diet. I started making pizza from scratch with just enough salt in the dough to cause the chemical reaction necessary, the lowest sodium cheese I could find, and no-salt-added tomato sauce.

On the other hand, I just discovered that I have not one but at least three friends who add salt to pizza. Bleah.

That's probably why I have to have some ant-acids sometime after eating frozen pizza, salt is 2nd on the list, after the crust...

I put more salt in my bread than in the pizza crust. The real salt content is in the toppings if they are store bought. If you make your own sauce and stick to things like green peppers, onions, mushrooms and maybe black olives you can cut down the salt down a lot. Store bought sauce, cheese, sausage and pepperoni contain a bunch of salt and I have seen pizza places top the pizza off with several sakes from a good size salt shaker. It explains why I down about half a gallon of water when I eat pizza and spend the next day getting rid of all the extra water I washed the pizza down with.

Now that I think about it, I have sprinkled salt on cold leftover pizza from the fridge. Seems to bring it back to life a little.

I think MSG is the main culprit is most pre-made pizzas.

MSG(Mono Sodium Glutamate) does not exist on either of the 2 Stater Bros pizzas that I bought and ate, though there is a lot of salt, I think I saw the word salt 5 or 6 times on each label here on the screen.

Clubhouse omelet - turkey, bacon, cheese, diced tomatoes.
With hash-brown potatoes, mixed fruit, coffee, and grapefriut juice.

Speaking of grapefruit juice, I love it, but especially the ruby red variety. I wish I had a grapefruit to eat right now, actually. Cantaloupe, too. Feeling fruity.

Marketing is strange. It's just like certain things aren't available in every state over here.

I see the Halloween Oreos all the time now, but have never broken down and bought a package. I think it's just orange colored crème. It would be better if it was actually orange flavored. :~)

I can't eat or drink any citrus, too much acid.

Due to certain medicines that I take; I cannot have grapefruit, nor grapefruit juice. It changes the levels of medicine in the blood.

It's Kentucky Fried Chicken for breakfast for me in the morning. Since I live in the company's headquarters' city, they do taste tests on new products, and I get called occasionally. $20 for eating and sharing my opinion is a good deal to me. :~)

Ah yes, sounds neat, you get access to new stuff before anyone outside your area.

They like to tweak old stuff, too. I think we're doing Original Recipe on this one. The Colonel would not be pleased with things nowadays.
