Hmmm... This one made me think. I used to eat donuts most frequently, but currently I do not eat any one food item with any regularity. I do, however, always eat SOMETHING for breakfast. I would have a headache by 10am if I skipped breakfast! |

OJ, coffee, w/low-fat milk, and an oatmeal cookie. Would rather have bacon and eggs, a short stack, etc., but -- the metabolism slowed down, after 65 (pits). |

I used to really like Mickey D's sausage biscuits, but they aren't as good anymore. BK and Wendy's don't have very good sausage biscuits, either. I do like the McGriddle. I don't go out for breakfast much, but Cracker Barrel isn't what it's all cracked up to be, for me. I keep hearing good things about White Castle's breakfast, but nothing else has ever appealed to me there, so I don't know... I'm mainly a scrambled egg man. That said, my mom asked for scrambled eggs for dinner tonight! She wanted me to add pepper, and then had a sneezing fit. She told me to hold the pepper next time. :~} The mind is a weird and mysterious place |

Most of the time it's whole powdered eggs, 2 sausages w/pepper and salt, decaf Folgers coffee, sweetener and powdered creamer, sometimes pancakes with margarine and lite maple syrup instead of the eggs and such, though coffee is never changed. I'll have to tell my mom I found someone else besides her who drinks Folgers decaf. :~) She drinks it plain, though. The mind is a weird and mysterious place |

When my mother went on Oxygen 24/7 due to COPD, she had to gove up caffeine because it reacted with some of her meds (Prednisone, among others). So we went to Folger's Decaf, but niether Mom nor Dad liked the taste. Found a local coffee shop that sold whole-bean decaf in flavours - tried several, Mom liked Irish Creme and Hazelnut best, so it was 50/50 Folger's and fresh-ground flavoured. Now that they're gone, on those rare occassions that I make coffee, I go 50/50 Folger's Dark Roast and fresh-ground either Irish Creme or Hazelnut Decaf. And on Wednesdays at the Vets' Coffee Club, Ray makes Folgers' Dark Roast plain and with fresh-ground Cinnamon. Donald Infernal Optimist / Submariner, retired |

That sounds pretty good, Donald. In my mom's case, I think the reason she stays away from caffeinated beverages is she's afraid it will make her jittery, and she has always been a little anxious. She eats plenty of chocolate, though. ~Speaking of which, she wants ice cream with chocolate syrup for breakfast dessert! The mind is a weird and mysterious place |

I used to really like Mickey D's sausage biscuits, but they aren't as good anymore. BK and Wendy's don't have very good sausage biscuits, either. I do like the McGriddle. Not a fan of BK's breakfast; just tastes a bit... I don't know, something not right. I thought Wendy's had given up on breakfast. Never had it. Trust me, even if you don't like anything else at White Castle, the sausage or bacon with egg and cheese on a bun is good. I think I've tried their toast and not liked it. I know I've tried their waffles and not liked them (not with the chicken either). Can't remember if they have hash browns, but if they do I don't like those either. I really don't like Dunkin Donuts' breakfast sandwiches and especially not their hash browns. Plus, they don't have fountain drinks and I don't like their tea. I was surprised to hear that the first DD just opened in California this week. Hardee's (and presumably also Carl's Jr.) is kind of growing on me for breakfast. One just opened near me and is giving really good prices to drum up business (it's kind of out of the way, with limited access due to road configuration). In fact, they sent out cards with 16 coupons for a different menu item free each week, limit two items per offer. The only thing I didn't get two of was the milk shake (mainly because I forgot that week that I *could* get two). Not sure what I'll do next week though; the coupon is for mushroom and Swiss burgers and I don't like fungi. Anyway, back to breakfast, their cinnamon pull-apart is decent, almost like McD's cinnamon whatever-they-call-it. The biscuit sandwiches are okay, although the Monster Biscuit is a bit messy. Hardee's are getting harder and harder to find around here. I do sorta judge a place by it's sausage biscuits, and BK and Wendy's were just a cut above McD's. Everybody's biscuits have been kind of weak and floppy lately, and the sausage bland. I will have to give WK a shot. Quite a few of those around, and they're remodeling, too. I think even Subway has a breakfast, and I heard Taco Bell was trying it. The mind is a weird and mysterious place |

Gordon, if you like spicy sausage, that's another reason to try WC. It's a notch above the others, almost more than I like (I have a wimpy tongue). I was surprised to hear that the first DD just opened in California this week. I do like it spicy, but there's al an ingredient I like to add to sausage when making casseroles or lasagna, and that's fennel seed. For some reason, waffles sound good right now, or even French toast. The mind is a weird and mysterious place |

Sandwiches with Gorgonzola cheese, mmmm... Bleu cheese is made from the same bacteria that I'm allergic to, penicillin, it's no wonder I can't stand the taste of that or roquefort for for that matter, My Dad and Brother both loved that and liver, I can't stand either one, My Mom also didn't like Liver.
