So I finally decided to go to the doctor with that nasty cold, it doesn't blow over:( Had to cough for almost an hour when I woke up. Doctors appointment @4pm

Get well soon Julie, I may not have a cold, but I sympathize.

Ok, my nasty little cold turns out to be a pneumonia! the doctor told me I need a lot of rest and I can't go to work next week. Didn't expect that... Freaking antibiotics again grmbl, have to take Zinnat 500mg, 3 a day for 10 days, means no beer for 10 days *snick*

That would help a lot, I got My brother to quit smoking, He used the patch, larger one first, then go to smaller and smaller ones, to get you unhooked from nicotine. And not smoking anymore might save you some money too.

You can try e-Cigs, Julie. Supposedly gives you the feeling that you are smoking; even though it's just vapor.

As I understand it, the deal with e-Cigs is you actually get the nicitine, but not the harmful smoke, not that nicotine is all that good for you. Some of my friends use e-Cigs, and they rave about the flavours they can get. I smoked pipe and cigars for 15 years in the Navy, both for strees relief and the pleasure of it, so I know.

My mother had a predisposition to pneumonia, plus she smoked for over 55 years. COPD put her on Oxygen for the last 11 years of her life, and that was what finally got her to quit.

Winning with clear lungs, but after 25 years, I still get the urge to light my pipe.

Sorry to hear Donald, your mother seemed very perseverant in her smoking habit, just like me... (Just smoked a cigarette)

As you said, quitting can be very difficult, especially when you start young. Mom started in her teens, and tried several times to quit before she finally succeeded, at age 69.

You said you tried an e-Cig and didn't like it. Was it straight nicotine, or have you tried the flavoured juices? Some of my friends rave about the fruit-flavoured ones.

We don't have the flavoured ones, people in Belgium generally don't like the E-cig, probably why we don't have the different flavours. We have them herbal cigarettes in pharmacies here, never tried those before...
