Apologies, I should have warned you earlier. As a friend gave me a demo a few months ago. He showed me that a powerful model could clean up in one pass, and a less powerful model from the same company took several passes, therefore taking twice as long and using over twice as much power. He also mentioned the problem mentioned in the article when using a vacuum cleaner with fullish bag. Ten days left to hoover up a powerful cleaner |

A good cyclon dont need so much power. Those 2000 watt monsters are wasted money because only 60% of that reaching the floor. With each crime and every kindness we birth our future. |

A good cyclon dont need so much power. EU ban on powerful vacuum cleaners prompts anger and legal challenge Which? tells consumers to buy now as Best Buy cleaners fall foul of EU energy label that prohibits motors above 1,600w James Dyson with a Dyson cleaner. His company is seeking judicial review of the legislation at the European court of justice. |

oooh, all that lovely energy making the world hotter! You can be sure of one thing: At least 50" of that night shot is pure waste. Lovely wider picture. Just wondering how many snivel serpents & other "officials" watching porn or playing cards on the tax payers €? |

This is mostly political BS and posturing. What is the use of limiting a hairdryer to half it's power when it then has to run twice as long to do it's job? What do they want? Soggy toast too, I suppose. "Freedom is just Chaos, with better lighting." Alan Dean Foster |

I think the object of the exercise is to encourage manufacturers to design and manufacture appliances that are as efficient at 1600 watts as at say 2500 watts. It can be done but the problem is that it will cost a lot of money in development, and increase the unit cost, and manufacturers are not willing to buy into that scenario as yet. Heating elements, such as in hairdryers, cannot be made more 'efficient'. They convert almost 100% of what they consume into heat. Einstein. "Freedom is just Chaos, with better lighting."
