Even the outgoing UN Rights Chief is critical of the UN response to preventing conflict in area's known to be at risk.

Reuters - UN rights chief rebukes Security Council for failures to act

As I said at the beginning of this discussion, the UN's role in pulling out of the Egypt Israel border area in 1967, is one of reasons this problem exists in the first place.

Violent death especially those of women & children is but a dark stain on mankind.

+100:(

Will we ever learn? I very much doubt it!

We can keep on hoping, hope gives strength.

Tit for tat - will it ever end?

Tit for tat - will it ever end?

Far worse than that are these arbitrary killings in Gaza:

Hamas sources in Gaza said 18 people accused of collaborating with Israel had been executed.

... Hamas officials told Reuters news agency that the first 11 executions were carried out at an abandoned police station. Witnesses said another seven people were shot dead by men in Hamas uniforms outside the al-Umari mosque in central Gaza.

After the first 11 executions, Hamas warned that "the same punishment will be imposed soon on others".

What next?

Another 80 missiles plus additional mortars to be lobbed over into Israel each day henceforth?

Where/how has Gaza got such an incredible arsenal of such big weapons?!...

Don't forget that Gaza is mainly just one city! All a very small area...

Gaza version of the ice bucket challenge - The Gaza Rubble Challenge

"There would be lime and other toxic substances in that rubble dust that could cause cancer and other respiratory ailments and illnesses in people. Please don't encourage children to do this and don't feel the need to copy the stupid fads we get sucked into over here. I worry about the children as they have enough to deal with already."

That comment makes a valid point.

http://news.yahoo.com/israel-says-found-hamas-training-manual-gaza-115338033.html
JERUSALEM (Reuters) - The Israeli army has released what it says is a page from a seized Hamas training manual that would appear to support its case that Palestinian militants deliberately use the cover of residential areas for combat operations.

Hamas, which denies it puts civilians at risk by storing and firing weapons from built-up areas, dismissed the document as a forgery intended to justify Israeli attacks that have killed hundreds of children, women and other non-combatants.

Who to believe?

However... Despite the good news of the 'breathing space' for everyone for better talking rather than bombing, note the due caution with:

Hamas ... claims to have won respect among Palestinians for putting up strong resistance against Israel's military onslaught.

Israeli leaders are expected to claim to have severely weakened Hamas over the past seven weeks, and restored "quiet" to areas within rocket range...

... And Hamas is estimated to still have available about a third of the amazing stockpile of rockets and mortars from before the 'conflict'...

Peace until Hamas feels insignificant again?...

Here's hoping for lasting change for the better, but I suspect there also needs to be a change of Hamas and their supposed Jihads and somehow a stop forced for war-by-proxy of surrounding 'political' 'interests'...

A change of Putin and Assad may well be needed also...

Be very careful what is wished for....

A regime change was implemented in Iraq.

"Stanley, that's another fine mess you got me into".

Edit:

I know the following link is best suited to another on going thread, but it has worrying issues that may re-ignite the Israel/Palestine conflict...

IS committed war crimes

The only way to stop this ridiculous violence in the middle east is to make a huge GLASS parking lot of the whole area and be done with it.

Really. Genocide. Does that make a fair comparison to a hated 20th century historical regime?

But that only transfers their hatred to the countries they have been sent to, & seek revenge for turning their homeland into a glass parking lot...

...So what then?
