The latest, for me: "Ordinary Heroes", by Scott Turow.

Not really sci-fi but I do love Aldous Huxley's doors of perception.

I liked 'Recall not Earth' by C.C. MacApp and Hiero(Hiero's Journey and The Unforsaken Hiero, there was supposed to be a 3rd book, but the author gave up on the series part way through writing the final book, so the 2nd ends in a cliff hanger) series by Sterling E. Lanier. Of course both authors are now deceased.

"Brave new world" by Huxley, written in 1935, is a prophetic book. It mentions helicopters, rockets, drugs and sex as a pastime. It does not mention computers, however, but it mentions genetic engineering.

Apparently, The Voyage of the Luna 1 was published in 1948.
Some 9 years before I was born.
Penned as best as I can tell by the illustrator Dorothy Glover.
Who used the pseudonyms of both David Craigie and Dorothy Craigie....

It was published as a children's book. Which I guess is why I remember it as a child.

There are some used copies available here and there.
I might just have to order one up and relive my childhood.

Meow.

Just finished reading "my name is Seepeetza" by Shirling Sterling.

Its a children's book about the Indian Residential Schools in Canada and it is sad and pretty depressing.

I started reading Science fiction in '69 and am still an avid fan.
I use it to calm myself after reading more serious books like 'The World According to Monsanto' by Marie-Monique Robin.
I'm into the 4th chapter and it's one of the most frightening books ever.
I knew Monsanto is evil before buying this book, but the depth of evil is shocking.

PS: My favorite book of all time is probably 'The Grapes of Wrath' by John Steinbeck.

Everyone should read this book while making comparisons to the way modern neo-cons are treating the masses.

I have recently discovered Project Gutenberg, to go with a Kindle I "inherited" from my kids. I get their hand-me-downs when they move on to newer technology.

Now on Volume 2 (of 6) of "The History of the Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire" by Gibbons. Heavy going, but interesting.

I recently found a first edition of Pearl S. Buck's Peony for an absolute steal in a used book store. Don't judge the story outside of the time it was written, but it is quite the little page turner.
