Message 1576541 - Posted: 23 Sep 2014, 13:35:01 UTC - in response to Message 1576540.

Does the Queen of Britain still have political Power?
Our King doesn't. 100 years ago since Kings and Queens had that.

In theory, the Queen has the ultimate authority over parliament, in practice she doesn't use it.

Thank God. I was worried for a moment.

What would happen if The Queen/King attempted to Exercise this Authority?

Our King attempted to exercise his authority on the law on abortion a few years ago, he got dethroned for a couple of days.....

[edit] Oh, it was only one day... http://www.nytimes.com/1990/04/05/world/belgian-king-unable-to-sign-abortion-law-takes-day-off.html

Interesting question, and one to which i do not have an answer.

Some sections of society would thank her, others wouldn't. Though given the direction political protest has gone in recent years, i fear i'd expect to see phrases such as "protestors took to twitter to express their outrage" in the news media.

Because, as we all know, there's nothing that a social media campaign can't fix. Just look at how many 'likes' those food-aid charity pages get on facebook, and how there's now no famine anywhere in the world!

Will never happen. The British press will ridicule her.
Anybody here has read the British tabloid press?
I have. Disgusting.

Not so quick there matey . The Governer still had to ask the Queen formally even if he really did not need her permission .

Also it was more about a Skity Liberal Party that lost the election so decided to take power by stopping supply . It's why i totally hate the Liberal even today Tony Abbot has used B/S to win the last election he totally lied to everyone not that he fooled me

I have all ways called it what it was a political coow 7 years later the country was in big trouble because of the Lib's and why they where out in the cold for 15 yrs

There's a bit of a 'teenage boy', in every man.

I read that in the voice of Julian Clary!

Here is an evil 'person'.

The Vatican. Pedophile perpetrator was a former top diplomat and additionally former archbishop.
It made no difference. The man was arrested anyway on the orders of Pope Francis.
Now Jozef Wesolowski is under house arrest inside the Vatican awaiting trial.

ow Jan don't get me started on the Catholic church mate .

But did you know the staff the pope uses is not what it seems to be and is actually a symbol of something else which i will not say . Or some are going to get right peed off .
And then that alter above the crypt of st Peter is not what it seems either and there are many more symbols in the Vatican that are not what people think they stand for . ops better shut up now .

Protestants as well:(
And all these weird religious sects.
For instance I saw the tragedy in Waco Texas live on CNN by accident.
All committed 'suicide' after setting the house in fire.

My motto is: If you're going to ask a "hot" question, be prepared for a "hot" answer. If you don't want to hear a "hot" answer, don't ask the question!

The most dangerous question on the planet that gets people all riled up?

Which came first:
The chicken or the egg!

Or for this thread: -

Which came first?
Good or Evil?

The chicken or the egg!

Easy, the egg. Chickens were first domesticated from other jungle fowl ~6000 BC.
Eggs have been laid for hundreds of millions of years.

Good or Evil?

Evil, starts with an E. Good doesn't arrive for another two letters.

But the letter in-between is apt sometimes on this question :-)
