Ozz, apparently Clyde was a cop, or in his SEMI-retirement he is now a cop.
He probably was among those in the early 80s that voted for reducing funding to psychiatric centers.
It probably gave him more to do as a police officer, as people are more intent on criminalizing the mentally ill, as used to occur.

I think it is a barbaric, primitive reaction that we must fight against to show we are better than those who can kill remorselessly.

A mother, defending her children, is a primitive reaction. I wouldn't call it barbaric tho. We will always have those primitive reactions, it's part of our nature. I think every mother with her heart in the right place would do the same as I.

Oh, there are a few mothers here. I have children and grandchildren and I think Julie is wrong about other mothers. Perhaps that urge to kill might exist for a few seconds but I hope I would never kill anyone.

This is true. People have to be programmed to kill. It is not as natural as some people think. Although infanticide is more common than seems to be acknowledged. I am surprised that Gary has not bought up how in nature mothers who are stressed or unable to feed their young often kill them.

In Scandinavia in old ages, mothers sometimes put the new born childs in the forest when they couldn't support them.
But most of the times they put the Child in front of a Church door.
It sometimes happens even today:(

Julie we have a lot of farmers that commit suicide here when things are not going to well .
When your closest nabor is 3 hrs plus away and you have to rely on sat phones and radio it can get very lonely out on the land . No people to talk to about your problems . The wife was a nurse and she had a car accident i think and was very badly hurt so i'm thinking it was all just to much for him and he just lost it in depression and took the family out and then himself .

depression can make a sane man do insane things but that does not mean they are nessasry evil just depressed and need help .

It's just so strange, one day, there's nothing wrong with those people and the next day they kill someone! My mum's BF had the same at his work. He says good evening to his perfectly same and normal colleague one evening, the next morning he hears this person is in psychiatry, under heavy medication for thinking he's Jesus (?) I think it's the stress from always having to live up to the high expectations in today's society that's wrecking those people.

Yes Glenn. Depression often ruins your own Life. Sometimes others as well.
My girlfriend had a hip surgery last summer.
Since then she starts to show some depressive behavor.

Wouldn't consider this to be Evil within the person. Just a very terrible human tragedy.
