Hm. So that's interesting. Has anyone ever been able to figure out any kind of pattern or logic for which tapes the splitters choose to start splitting next? There's a lot of low-numbered tapes, but 29mr08ae just recently started being split (I think..unless my memory is fuzzy). If it is kind of random, then the 30 and 31 tapes should--technically--have a pretty equal chance of starting up at any time. Either way.. the candlelight vigil continues.. Tapes are loaded in batches, and each successive batch is processed from the top down. For some reason, the 2013 batch has been downgraded to the lowest priority, and only gets a chance to split when all other work has been exhausted. I think 31mr08ag was in the same batch as 29mr08ae, so that might be the next off the starting blocks. After that, it'll be back to the top with 01mr08ah. I think. |

Inbound traffic has been odd over the last couple of weeks. Generally it's pretty steady with bursts after the weekly outage or when they are uploading new data. Over the last couple of weeks there have been lots of bursts in inbound traffic, sometimes for a hour or 3. Odd. Grant Darwin NT |

OMG, 31mr08ag has been started. :-O We may finally get to see the last of those old files yet. Cheers. |

OMG, 31mr08ag has been started. :-O Yeah, I just noticed the 08 in it and not 13. :-( Oh well we'll just have to keep looking at those long forgotten files. Cheers. |

WOW! I like it to, But I think they are just testing the splitter code. Once they get either none are very few errors on tapes it back to feast or famine time:) [/quote] Old James |

WOW! I really think that those displayed errors were just false 1's as I've had no problems with any of the work coming from them. ;-) Cheers. |

I really think that those displayed errors were just false 1's as I've had no problems with any of the work coming from them. ;-) Or were they errored out & no data came from that particular channel? Or does the error indicate an error in the channel, but WUs were still split from the rest of that channel? Grant Darwin NT |

WOW! Logically if there were errors detected during splitting it wouldn't send out the data with errors. When there is a splitter having errors not detected then we see issues running work. They split a few APs then stopped. |

They split a few APs then stopped. That last lot I think you'll find was just part of last week's data set (it was just delivered in 3 parts to the splitters) as another data set is being sent down now. ;-) Cheers. |

We may need to keep an eye on file 15se08ab as it's been sitting at 11 channels completed for at least 8hrs now while tying up 2 splitters and also the MB creation rate hasn't been that high today either. [edit] and no sooner than I speak than that file has been kicked and a splitter freed. Cheers. |

So if there are no APs, what's keeping both the green and the blue so high? David Sitting on my butt while others boldly go, Waiting for a message from a small furry creature from Alpha Centauri. |

So if there are no APs, what's keeping both the green and the blue so high? In the past couple hours I've gotten a handful of shorties on my Core2 Duo box. They won't get crunched by me until tomorrow, but if I have speed-burners for wingmen...... Donald Infernal Optimist / Submariner, retired |

I don't know what's consuming the bandwidth, but those 30 and 31 tapes are being split! Linux laptop: record uptime: 1511d 20h 19m (ended due to the power brick giving-up) |

So if there are no APs, what's keeping both the green and the blue so high? The large blue line before midnight looks like the normal transfer of data form the lab to the servers, for splitting. Then the increase in the green would be the processed data back to the lab. At 00:00 it looks like the data from the lab to the servers was shunted down to a 100Mb transfer rate. This may be an indication of some network error, or on purpose by the IT staff. I don't know what's consuming the bandwidth, but those 30 and 31 tapes are being split! Well, so much for that. New tapes were loaded and it looks like the ones that were in the process of being split got interrupted in favor of the newly-loaded tapes. The vigil for the 31xx13 tapes continues...
