I might enjoy having them around, but it is probably a bit too noisy and hectic for the kitties. Cute pic, Angela! I most likely did not work on the two pumpers that went to John's town. The department I work in mostly builds chassis only that are then sent to our Florida plant to have the bodies installed and completed. If John's pumpers went down the main Pierce Appleton assembly lines, I would not have helped with them. Congrats on the purchase, and I hope that they give you many years of good service. Meow. These are the first new trucks in 14 years. I believe I was once told the 'average' service life of a fire truck in an active department was around 10 years. Given economic conditions in the country lately, I am sure many are pressed into service beyond that. Pierce also has a refurbishment plant in Weyauwega, WI., that rebuilds old fire trucks. We have built some new chassis for jobs where they re-use the body of the old one. We also had a couple recently where they even rebuilt the old diesel engine and transmission, put them in a brand new frame, and then reassembled it with the original body.
