Just reading a cheap christmas gift, The World's Greatest Alien Conspiracy Theories by Nigel Cawthorne, and i came across mention of the Zeta Reticuli star system. With interest i quickly Googled the web and came up with some interesting information regarding that particular system.

Most importantly it was considered that according to Bode's Law and the observed distance of the closest extrasolar planet from the star, the fourth extrasolar planet of Zeta 2 Reticuli would be in the ideal range for the evolution of intelligent life.

It was also interesting to note that the system is billions of years older than that of our own and thus it would be reasonable to assume that life in that system would be more highly evolved than that in our own.

Unfortunately for the SETI project this system is seldom, if ever, within the range of the Aricebo telescope as it in the Southern Hemishpere. Wouldnt it be great to be able to use the facility at Parkes to thoroughly scan this region of the sky for signals?

Also came across this in my travels through various sites, interesting but legthy reading.
