wow that puts a new spin on the logic of Leonardo Da Vinci who said there could not have been the great flood of Noah's ark as the water had nowhere to go . MM so it went back into the earth thanks for this info i need to do some thinking now

Massive 'ocean' discovered towards Earth's core

A reservoir of water three times the volume of all the oceans has been discovered deep beneath the Earth's surface. The finding could help explain where Earth's seas came from.

Sure enough, they found signs of wet ringwoodite in the transition zone 700 kilometres down, which divides the upper and lower regions of the mantle. At that depth, the pressures and temperatures are just right to squeeze the water out of the ringwoodite. "It's rock with water along the boundaries between the grains, almost as if they're sweating," says Jacobsen.

Hold on here "sweating rocks hardly equates to a massive underground ocean. This goes against all the teaching that I had in the Open University S102 course. Yes there have been massive floods in the earths history, especially in Europe where the Bible tales are supposed to be based.

1. The Atlantic broke through the strait of Gibraltar in 5,000,000 BC, to form the Mediterranean sea. Before that the Mediterranean area was a fertile valley.

2. The North Sea broke through the Weald–Artois anticline 200,000 BC to form the English Channel, before that it was also a fertile valley.

3. The black sea had a massive flooding in 5600 BC through the Bosphorus. A bit closer to home.

The bible does not give a date for Noahs flood, nor exactly where he lived either. There also have been various ice ages that melted, although the sea levels would have risen and fallen gradually over thousands of years.

Have a think about that lot Glenn :-))

With a beer or ten too :)) then get back to ush... :)

De vinci said water always flows in a down wood direction and therefore the flood of noah's ark could not have happened as the whole world was cover'd and the water had nowhere to go according to the codex in the vault where it is kept.

yep i know about the black sea and i did here about the other 2 but if there is more water under the earth then maybe it did happen and Bob Ballard is wrong about the black sea being the place of Noah's ark flood ?

Well... in the days when no one knew anything about tectonic plate movements, finding the fossilized bones of fish etc at the top of mountains was bound to need some explaining-via-lots-of-water-catastrophe don't you think? :) Quite how anyone thought the water hung around as long as it did given they also thought the earth was flat is a mystery to me... :)

Apologies :) not mocking anyone... :) just feeling mischievous :)

I don't think this is mainstream science here. Not saying it isn't true but I would like to see this idea peer reviewed. 700 kilometers down it seems to me that any water would turn to steam and find it's way to the surface.

I watched a doco the last week called Inside the Mind of Leonardo Da Vinci where the makers where allowed to enter the Vault where his personal journals where kept . They have 1000+ pages or so of the original text . It was written in a code which they called the Da Vinci Codex .

It has a lot of his personal thoughts in it which was acted out by a actor a well know 1 i can't remember .

So i was not being mischievous . I was saying in a off way to myself i wounder what Da Vinci would have thought if he had known about Ringwoodite .

Does what i said make cents now .!!

Leonardo drew beautiful maps of Arno and other rivers in Tuscany. They are mostly kept in Windosor Castle.I have a book "Leonardo genio e cartrografo" published by Instituto Geografico Militare, Firenze, 2003 but it does not include any map of seas and oceans.

There are other 6 Codex. One of them, Codex Leicester, belongs to Bill Gates and was shown here in Milano a few years ago. Of course we have also the "Last supper" in Santa Maria delle Grazie church.
