Hello.
I'm (sort of) new here. I was active about '04 - '08; figured I could get back to it.
I installed boinc over the weekend, and added my favorite project (seti). I updated, but no WUs got downloaded. So I added 2 other projects (cosmology and einstein). Only einstein is getting crunched (apparently).
I tried updating seti several times - still no WUs.
After a couple days, I was notified that seti needs 32 Meg more disk space, but I have 0 Meg available. I tweaked the prefs, but still can't get it to run.

So, what would prevent a project from downloading WUs?

P.s. -- I'm sure that there are all sort of details I can give, but I don't know which are relevant. So, just ask.

Here is some info (from the prefs web pages) that might help:

The resource share for all 3 is 100.
Disk: use at most .2 GB {see note} ===> just now changed to 1 GB.

Note about disk usage: It _was_ set to 200 Meg, but boinc states (in the disk tab): Used by boinc 474 Meg. Strange.

Could you please post BOINC its start-up messages? The first 30-40 lines will do. CTRL+SHIFT+E for the event log.

*Update*
I just changed my seti prefs from use only v7 to use enhanced, v7, and astropulse. Also, I changed my local disk prefs to match the online values.

I then told seti to update -- still no work.

hmmm ... perhaps I figured out what's going on. The event log shows that seti didn't request work because I don't need it.

So, it seems like I should tell einstein 'no new tasks', then seti will run -- yes?

Ok, I got it going.

Perhaps I had something set wrong when I began (and tried to get just seti running). Then, after I got einstein running, seti still refused to get work. I thought that it was the same problem -- probably not.

Anyway ... I now have seti work!! yay! :)

I changed my local disk prefs to match the online values.

In this case ALL "the online values" (not only "disk prefs") will be ignored.
(only those "online values" which have no local equivalent will be used)

So from now on: use local prefs

P.S.
For more 'tech insides' view: look the files global_prefs.xml and global_prefs_override.xml

Resource share is honored more in the long term than in the short term. If your queue is full, the client will not ask for work from anywhere. However, the projects that have recently gotten more work done on your computer will not be asked for work for a bit to make up for the work done.
