Well this is great, I got an email from Chase, My account was overdrawn, so I now owe Chase $42.31, which is $34.00+$8.31, the $8.31 cost of a monitor repair kit put Me over... crap... Well not much I can do about this now, on the 31st I'll pay the ransom, or rather I'll absorb the outrageous interest, at least it's not a payday lender... sigh, Merry Xmas indeed. Mine is dark, damp and dreary indeed.

I had a similar experience with a new bank account. My old bank account would
not let me "charge" anything (using a debit card) if my balance could not
cover it. Unbeknownst to me, the new bank let you buy anything, no matter if you
had a negative balance.

There I was, waiting for my card to be rejected, as I purchased a soda for about
$1.50. It wasn't. Again, knowing I was getting very close to a zero balance, I
bought another soda. Card still wasn't rejected. I did that one more time before
I received a notice from the bank that I owed them $99 in fees for the
overdrafts.

HOLY CRAP! I thought. What kind of rip-off is this?!!

I paid them off (think of it: over $100 for three sodas) and immediately
closed that account.

Then all the banks started doing the same thing. They'd let you buy something
you didn't have money for and then charge you a fee. They're damned crooks,
imho.

I'll never get over paying that much for three damned sodas.

I know the feeling. Been there. Now try this one.
I had two bank accounts at one time. One I was using regularly and the other I was letting dust collect on. The dusty account went into being overdrawn status. I went to find out what happened. They informed I was being charged inactivity fees. I was thinking to myself. "WT*!!!" As you can guess my next step was paying the overdraft charge and then closing the account.

Progress report on my trying to tame the squirrels in my local park.

Yesterday went to the park and sat in the walled garden, threw a few bits of bread for the birds, before any birds turned up this chap appeared.

Obviously inquiring if I was the strange human who gave out free food.

At which point I offered a nut which he was quite happy to eat then and there.

In fact for the next nut he even rested against my foot!!

Today he (or a squirrel just like him) took me by surprise by running up to me as soon as I entered the walled garden.

So it seems I am making progress!!

Kind of ironic then, as that's where I found this pic...
