Message 1571185 - Posted: 12 Sep 2014, 21:48:23 UTC - in response to Message 1571138.

Victorville is in the high desert on either side of the interstate highway 15 in California and is 37.2 miles(36 mins) by road north of San Bernardino according to Bing.

Yes I was right.
Use my link to look at the street views of Victorville from Google.
Maybe you will find that house:)
My house is on display at Google maps.
https://www.google.se/maps/@34.5349692,-117.2927701,3a,75y,274.47h,68.81t/data=!3m4!1e1!3m2!1sOccDF2sy8ndoKflrdrw_fg!2e0!6m1!1e1

As they say, location, location, location. If you picked my house up and moved it 15 miles in the right direction, the price would double or triple. I live next to farm land away from the city core and most people don't find that desirable. On the other hand, I wouldn't mind it if I was a bit farther out but I picked this location because it was only 3 miles from work. Victorville is far enough out that if you have to work you may not want to live that far out. If you are retired or work from home, it could be a very good location. Vic isn't tied to a location so he is free to look for a better house of the dollar. I suspect the only thing that binds him to the area is relatives that he doesn't need to see every day.

Actually believe it or not, people do commute from the Victor Valley area to down below in the San Bernardino valley and beyond to go to work, My Nephew does this 6 days a week, He'd live closer, but housing prices are too high and He makes about $45,000.00 a year as a truck driver and He supports 3 people, His disabled Wife, Her disabled child and Himself.

This is Oskar, Ship's Cat on the "Bismarck", who survived that sinking to develop his career as a SC on board two Britsih Royal Navy ships - both of which were, in their turn, sunk. Not "Sam" however; he survived all three sinkings, and went on to a comfortable retirement, ultimately, in an old sailors' home in Belfast, Northern Ireland.

In Sweden we have a saying that cats have seven lifes:)

That cat carried a jinx. 3 ship sinkings AND Belfast!!!

Here's My secondary pick, it's also in Victorville CA and is on its own lot and mounted down low on a concrete foundation, it's not up for sale yet, it was foreclosed upon. This place has 2 beds, 2 baths and 960 sqft of living space and was built in 1981. Its estimated value is at $51,866.00 and is 5% under valued from what I've read($2.7K).
I don't know why the lady is in this last picture, but then the house is what was foreclosed upon, I'm going to be watching this one, as the place looks move in ready and just perfect for Me.

$51,866!!! That was cheap:) Where is it?
Victorville near San Bernadino?

In our country you dont get a hut for that price! Maybe a shanty.

I saw that in Detroit there are many cheap houses:)
One where sold for $100! However Water and electricity not included

I looked the place up and when the place was last up for sale, the price was $52,000.00 and that includes the land too, electricity, gas, water, trash collection and sewer are all available. $100 probably won't buy a decent shed in this country. The place I live in cost Me a total of $27,000.00 in 2006, had to be moved across a state line with 3 companies doing the work(1 for packing the place for moving, 1 for moving and 1 for setup, from NV to CA, all on an expired NV travel permit, under cover of darkness), I doubt the place is worth all that much and I don't own the land under the place either, plus state law changed after 2007 making My current place a park only model, it can't be legally placed on its own land that I could own, so I have to look for something else in a few years and then palm this place off on someone in the park who rents a smaller and older place, they get title and I get out of here.

A couple of "critters" from my recent walks.

This grey squirrel was sitting up eating the nut, however as soon as I stopped to take the pic he/she was ready to run!!

I help out at the community garden on a Saturday morning and while a group of us were stood talking this robin appeared and was obviously impatient for us to start work in case we tuned up anything edible.

That's very cheap! Over here it's like €2 for a kilo, wouldn't know the right price actually, we never buy banana's.

I didn't post it here because I was too lazy to download the image from Facebook, then upload it to my web server. I would have posted it to Angela's timeline if I were friends with her (which is something about which I will have to do something).

You can buy the bone-in bananas for much less, and it's
quite easy to debone them yourself.
