My mum takes absolutely a-g-e-s to eat, very much like a recalcitrant two year old at times. Giving her something you know she's always liked is no guarantee that she will remember it's something that she's ever liked. It's almost like her taste buds and sense of smell have lost their memory too. She's developed a very sweet tooth from never having had one before and if she could, would eat cake, chocolate and biscuits ONLY. I understand. Iva's got quite a sweet tooth, too, and asks what's for dessert before I've even set the main course down. Other than chocolate, she would be quite happy with nothing but peanut butter sandwiches and "cheese and margarine sandwiches"(yes, she specifically requests those). The television used to be a big draw for her, but she's only interested in it if I watch it with her now Yes - Iva is the same way. She is very clingy and wants me in the room, or with my arm around her preferably, all the time. How can we complain about this sort of thing? The mind is a weird and mysterious place |

Well as in another month I will be 64 I can tell you tastes buds do change. I used to love watermelon and bananas. Just the taste of anything water melon is gross. Now banana flavor I can eat. But anything with a real banana in it just makes me gag. As a kid I loved them. So the foods that they once loved, They really might not like anymore. My Mom called me tonight and said her oldest sister died this morning. She was 90. She was always the cool Aunt. Out of five siblings It just my mom and her younger brother now. That's how life goes. You watch the ones go before you. [/quote] Old James |
