I Hated My Mom and Dad. Glad my Younger Brother saw Them to Their Deaths.

Their Deaths were Not Pleasant. GOoD. Neither was Being Their Child.

Maybe Dr. HOHUM should be Looking Down at Them and Not Up.

I'm sorry you suffered :( I know it changes nothing but it makes me sad :(

Maybe Dr. HOHUM shouldn't waste AnY time Looking Down at Them... fo' sho'? :)

Dr. hohum. My late second wife would second your post. Her parents were rotten to the core. Her father and his brothers were child molesters. Her mother and the aunts were either in denial or enabalers. Even the male cousins were rotten. Her cousin commtitted suicide beacuase of it.
I am sorry you had rotten parents. No kid deserve that.

part of taking care of myself is taking care

Right now I wish LSM could get back on her feet soon. Her knee went
out so the poor girl is stuck on the couch until we find out what
is causing so much pain for her. Then to add horror to a bad story
to start with, my dear sweetie has to put up with my cooking, and
house cleaning as well. Truth is, we have had to do this several times
in the past to help each other out, and are happy in our hardships
on our own behalf. You now know why I am not around so much. Have
no fear for us, we are made of stern stuff. Lucky for us we have made a
life of gathering good people and family around us for our support
group. Besides, I can kind of cook. Say did you people know that
dishes have to be washed more than once week? I always thought that
it was not necessary if you licked them real well after each use.

I'm astonished they have to be washed at all! Try taking them back to the shop you bought them from. I did... didn't go quite as I thought it would... Still! *beam brightly* never mind...

Really sorry to hear LSM is in pain :( Hope it's not for long! You're an inspiration to us all, both of you :) Get better soon ((healing hugs))

I am sorry you are having a hard time of it but it's good you can take care of each other. There have been times when I didn't feel like getting out of bed but most of the time I have had other who have taken care of me. I then in turn take care of them when they need help.
As for cooking, Walmart and other stores have a meal in a bag where you take the contents and dump it in a crock pot. Twelve hours latter, dinner is ready. As for washing dishes, in the motor home, water usage is a real issue and working a full day just didn't leave you in the mood to wash dishes. The solution was paper plates and plastic sliverware, Sometimes I could go two days without doing the dishes and then it would only take about 15 minutes. No, I'm not that way at home, but on the road, the rules change.

Not fun and LSM has my fullest sympathy. The pain just sucks, especially if the second one also get's issues.
I live with very effective pre cleaners, if I choose to employ them.
Also adapting is important. Coming from a Country with a lot more rain in the summer time, then say California or Kansas, you pay attention to your elders.

Been a bit busy and not paying as much attention to this forum as I would have liked.

Praying for all of you who are caring for loved ones, that God grant you the strength, courage, patience, and wisdom to do what is best for all of you, including making hard choices when necessary.

When I was helping my parents take care of each other, there were many difficult days, including a few bouts of dementia as the cancer took Mom. It helped to have both my sisters to spell me, and remembering that God has promised us that He will never give us more burdens than we can handle. Still, there were days I wished He didn't have so much faith in me (insert laugh track here).......

A couple of my Shipmates, and one VFW Comrade's wife, are in various stages of Alzheimer's. Some are still at home, with an aide to help out, others are in care facilities because their condition was such that the spouse simply could no longer care for them at home, even with help. They get daily visits, but it can be rough on the family members to visit and not be recognized. I would not wish Alzheimer's on my worst enemy.

Annie, I hope your family conference went well, and you are able to keep your Mother at home for awhile. Fight hard to give her the best life you can, but be aware that the time may come....

For Ian and Marie, I pray for a speedy recovery and return to something resembling normal living.....

Very well said thoughtful words from everyone. I think Annie hit the nail on the head about having a sense of humor about it all. You have to. In fact, I've found myself smiling and laughing more with my mother than I ever have. :~)

Ian, Sorry to here LSM is in pain. As I have advanced arthritus in one knee I can understand her pain. I can cook, But not multi tasking cooking. By that I mean I have no clue on when To start foods cooking so they end up done at the same time. So some things end up well done or under done.
Im a little better at it then the first time my wife was laid up. But Im amazed how my wife can do a multiple course meals and it all gets done at the same time.
I do mash the potatos though. After getting both shoulder joints replaced she just dosent like doing it.

I tip my hat to each one of you in here, Who have had to face some very severe obstacles on the path of life, And prserverd.

Up Date!

We are so very grateful for the kind messages that we are getting on behalf of our health. Every one will be happy for us to hear that the low-down on LSM's knee is in. The news is good, the doctor says that she will improve with out drugs or surgery. LSM has been showing progress every day now, and soon she will be taking over from me with our every day chores. Apart from LSM's pain and discomfort, a happy side effect has been an increased mobility for myself.
We thank every one again for your concern for us.
