Mine too, until my mama stated making ice box lemon pie. She used the egg whites whipped toppings for both types of lemon pies.

Like a mousse pie? Mmmmm!!! Tell me more.

Note: They're not real mice and the pie is paper mache.

Ang, I make it the same way as you, as taught by my Grandmother, the truly classic version, none of this lemon curd stuff.

I even use a table spoon of lemon juice in the shortcrust pastry.

I suspected as much. I think she was referring to what we might call "Italian Prune Plums" here in California.

Uli, currants can be many things!

Black Currants, Red Currants, and White Currants, are fruits that grow on bushes. The Zante currant in the USA, and just "currant" in the UK, are dried black Corinth grapes.

American Vs UK English!

vive la différence :-))

Then I guess We are all currently up to date on this then Chris.

My mother had a recipe for a chocolate lime cake. It involved condensed milk and lime jello and a long time in the mixer. Then it got poured into a springform pan lined with chocolate wafers, with ground up wafers on the bottom.
