I do have a solution to the broken cat box hinge, drill a hole(1/8") thru the broken off piece and/or thru the area where the hinge broke at and insert a wood screw of the right size there and the problem should be fixed.

The door will require a whole new door knob and a locksmith, there goes $100(trip charge), why? I live in a mobile home, doors use a different bolt than a stick built house and I have 5 internal door knobs to replace, I should have the guy retrofit the whole place and install two new door locks on the front exterior door, since both locks are partly busted there too...

The exterior back door is the only door that doesn't need work.

Right now I'm waiting for Littermaid to get back to Me, and the doors will just to wait, this breaking off of plastic parts in the cylinder for the knob is one reason why I don't close My bedroom door, the closet and bathroom off of the master bedroom have recent door knobs, the bathroom has an exterior door knob(with a key), the other bathroom I never close(Graces box is there).

I live in a fixer, since that is what I could afford in 2006...

I talked to Littermaid and they said the litterbox that I have, the LME9000 is discontinued(as are the parts), they suggested the LM980 which uses a plastic rake and that is noted online for breaking, Littermaid suggested that I call one of its distributors, I did and found that like Littermaid, they had nothing also. I did so far find two LME9000MB litterboxes on ebay, both are for bid and so far I'm hoping I can repair My gas heater for the house and I'm not entirely sure of that, but add a litterbox and the houses property taxes and I'm up a creek.

Is there any support here for a gofundme effort? I'm curious.

I tried a Litter maid once for my cats. Took it back to the store. Cats hated it.

Can Grace use another kind of litter box?? If not, than it's #1 problem for now.

Lot's of problems Vic, they will get worked out. :) Can you do gofundme on Facebook again?

I used to have a Littermaid box when I was down in Southern California. I THINK it was an LM-900; MUCH newer than what you have, Vic. Bought it in 2005. Both cats took to it. The male cat couldn't understand why it would make noise; so, he'd jump into it, jump out of it, sniff at it, then walk away. Moments later, it would activate from him having jumped into it. It would make noise and move the rake. This would catch his attention, again, and he'd go back in for another round.

After about a month of this, he stopped paying so much attention to it. He just did his business, got out, and the Littermaid did its job. The female didn't seem to care that it made noise. She just used the box and left it.

If I ever have cats again, I'd definitely buy another Littermaid. :-) Best $150 I ever spent on my cats. :-)

My cat box looks remarkably similar to that, although it's a different brand. When Baby died, I thought I would clean it up and put it in storage in case I ever get another cat, but I still haven't and now I think it's just too gross and I'll never get it adequately clean. I should just throw it out.

I was using a wheat-based litter which is also flushable. I tried the corn and didn't like it; it floated too much.

Maybe I can send you the corresponding part from mine and you can see if it fits.

Well I have good news on Graces Litterbox, Angela should be happy...

Hi,

Thank you for your inquiry. Unfortunately, the LME series has been discontinued for quite a while and we have limited stock. Please email back your address and phone number and we will see if we can locate you the part you need or, if we can't, we would be happy to send you a new litter box as a one-time courtesy with no further warranty.

Sincerely,

Leslie McCormick
Consumer Relations Specialist

So now I just need to get My heater fixed, 5 old door knobs & 2 locks replaced, a window or two replaced, etc, I'm taking donations.

Another useless research paper... (via CNet.com)
Research says your cat might be thinking about killing you? Really?
Technically Incorrect: Research from the University of Edinburgh and the Bronx Zoo suggests that cats have personalities similar to those of African lions. Some suggest this means your cat wants to be rid of you.

I fear that cat research has been heading in a disturbing direction for some time.

Last year, a wise anthrozoologist declared that your feline thinks you're just one big, stupid cat. Earlier this year, researchers in the UK said cats really don't need their owners at all.

And now this.

Some have interpreted a study from the Bronx Zoo and the University of Edinburgh in Scotland as saying that your cat might be trying to bump you off. Yes, kill you, eat you, that sort of thing.

The study is entitled "Personality Structure in the Domestic Cat (Felis silvestris catus), Scottish Wildcat (Felis silvestris grampia), Clouded Leopard (Neofelis nebulosa), Snow Leopard (Panthera uncia), and African Lion (Panthera leo)"

More POSITIVE proof that Cats can be just as protective as dogs:
Usually dogs get credit to be the protectors of the house, but that’s always just been pro-canine propaganda. The real protectors are cats!
The man videotaped himself tapping his child’s car seat, which held an infant, and repeating the words “naughty baby.” It doesn’t take long for the black cat to charge at his owner and claw his hand, reports the Mirror. When that fails to make the man stop “hitting” the baby, the feline takes drastic action by charging at his arm, digging his claws into his skin and physically forcing him off of the baby’s car seat.

The man wasn’t reportedly trying to hurt the baby, but had set this up with the intention of testing his cat’s reaction. The video clip has quickly gone viral and, much to the satisfaction of cat lovers, is being cited as proof that cats are safe pets to have around children and can even be protective of them.

Graces NEW Litterbox, thanks to Littermaid, Natures Best, looks and works like Littermaid and Grace has used the box already, the bins from the old box fit perfectly too, so I have a good supply. I just installed this box, then I started to vacuum up any litter from the old box and found the bag was full, so I had to change that, then cause I had the box running and the vacuum the bathroom electrical circuit got tripped, the old one never did this, so I unplugged the vac from the bathroom and on to the circuit where the a/c is at(a/c being off or this would not work), then I put My shoes on and trudged outside(O da horror! ;) ) and reset a 20A circuit(one of the broken two) and the bathroom lives, crazy wiring in this place, oh for the money to hire an electrician to straighten this place out... And all before breakfast, yep I haven't had a thing to eat, yet, now where is thing? Here thing, whistles for thing... ;)

I now know why the Bathroom power went out on Nov 5th 2015, it seems both bathrooms and both bedrooms are wired into one 20A breaker(the 20A breaker needs replacement too, since a hold down tab is broken off), I found the electric heater unpowered, where as before I had the heater on and set at 75F, so I will need an electrician to rewire the place some, this place seems to be miswired here and there.
