Kitten Gilligan needs help!

The foster "daddy" who has been caring for Gilligan (and I think is likely to adopt him, if he lives) is a Facebook friend and real friend of a real friend. Daddy is not rich (he works as an extra and bit actor), and donations go to the rescue organization, so they should be deductible.

Sadly, the rescue organization opted to let Gilligan go. The vet seemed rather surprised that seven people showed up for a last little bit of time with him. He passed around 10pm PDT Tuesday.

NOTE: there is still a rather substantial vet bill to be paid. Donations in memory of Gilligan would help them not have to make the same decision with other animals in the future.

Siyah peed on Lisa's bed again, her litter box is as clean as clean can be. I gave her a special treat to eat yesterday. It seems the more things I do to spoil her, the more she's peeing all over my place. I had to put both Lisa and my mattress up this morning. She once peed on Yoko's pillow as well.

[edit]One night I was sleeping and I woke up with some sort of buzzing sound in my head, I also noticed my head was literally being pushed into my pillow. I looked up and Siyah was looking at me, sitting right next to my pillow. Strange cat, to say the least.

Another night I woke up with the feeling I was being strangled. When I looked up, Siyah was sitting on the ledge of my bedroom window, looking at me.

Can anyone give me some advice how I can deal with this?

Does Siyah drink a lot of water and/or is seen frequently going to the litter box when you are home?

Take Siyah to the VET ASAP and explain what is happening...

About 15 years ago I had a cat (around 11 years old at the time) who started doing almost same thing (peeing on carpet and furniture along with frequent trips to litter box). After a thorough vet exam and blood work-up I found out she was highly diabetic.

She was prescribed and I gave her (7 ml) insulin injections twice a day. She lived another 3+ years before starting to show signs of acute kidney failure, so the vet recommended I have her put down to take her out of suffering.

The thing is, she didn't do that before I bought her. She regularly pees when I am home and I refresh her water every day. She also drinks enough.

What I wonder most about is the intense looks she gives me and the consequences it has on myself.

She also never cuddles nor sleeps on my bed. I think she is being used as some sort of tool for some highly spiritual people but that's just my two cents. Poor cat... I was also searching for a good Imam to help me with that but I cannot seem to find one who wants to help me after I articulate a certain name..

Ok now Cats don't always sleep with anyone else, that is normal cat behavior, Grace usually sleeps by Herself, in the Winter or at night She'll be in My chair huddled up near My PC for warmth, but that's all. In winter they will typically seek out other cats or a substitute to sleep with, but usually the best heat source wins.

As to the cat peeing, cats have to be introduced to a litter box, at least in My experience, I generally have only had to put the cat in the litter box, then while holding the cat by the body and by one of the front legs, I move the front leg through the litter, as if one is digging or covering up something, usually potty training a cat is pretty simple. At least it has been for Me. I don't know if this will be helpful or not, but is is My $0.02 cents.

You might read what I found here at this Site Julie:

A good Imam, sounds religious, that won't help a bit, Cats don't have religion and wouldn't know what to make of it. Cats are hunters, in Nature they hunt for Prey to kill and eat, being mammals, they would have to be trained to hunt and kill, it's not automatic.

Here's a link on Remedial Litter box training for a cat.

Looks very interesting and educative. I'll print it out here at work and read it at home later this evening.

Cystitis or some other urinary tract problem is a common cause of inappropriate weeing, but the vet would have picked up on that. Also, has she been spayed? I had one girly who shattered my belief that only unneutered males scent mark. Everytime she came into season (literally every few days) she did exactly what Siyah seems to be doing :/ It was diagnosed as cervical fever and getting her spayed stopped the behaviour overnight.

A friend of mine has a cat who is allergic to something that is contained in cat biscuits. It may just be coincidence, but she too was a "ooh! soft serface - let us wee..." until dry food was excluded from her diet altogether.

Siyah's behaviour suggests she's trying to tell you something. If none of the above apply, figuring out what will be tricky. Good luck! :)

oh...and did we say we like humans too? Well we do :)

Maybe I missed it, but I don't think Julie told us if she took Syrah(?)to the Vet and what was wrong with her.
I know exactly why Tessie and Ticker mark the house on occation. They are not happy, that I invited Homeless.
The Kitty Counter is Switzerland. Tinker is not fond of Homeless roming the house, so 3 am hissyfits are the norm here.
On the plus side, not marking in the last three weeks.

@Suzie, Tinker went thru the super heat issue, until I got her fixed. She had a kittie cold to get over first.
Sadly on that day, my best BF died, 10/10/2010.

She doesn't seem to do it anymore, under the same circumstances. I do miss Gonzo a lot.. sigh

Julie, you didn't answer the question. Did you take Syrah to the Vet?
We can help. No Kittie should be in pain. And yes, her behavior is a sign of pain.
If you need funds, please let us know.

No funds needed Uli. The cat is feeling top notch. I mentioned in my previous post she stopped doing what she was doing under the same circumstances. The dog (Zoe) will be with us tonight. She seems to get along quite well with him although she likes to provoke him but the dog is quite old (14 years of age) and starting to become blind.

Glad to hear that Siyah has come around.
Hope she continues her good behavior.
And doesn't pester the doggins too much.

Otherwise, try some Feliway.

I have some bad news, Graces Litter box has a broken part, the LME9000MW Waste Receptacle Cover(part number: LME9000MW-04) broke at one of the hinges, the hinge just snapped off on one side, so far I have not been able to find a replacement part, I've emailed Littermaid, but even if they do know when the part will be back in stock, this is a bad time, My gas heater is broke, the taxes are due in December and just to find out what model litterbox that I have, I had to break into the small bedroom, the door knob busted, since some of the parts are plastic... This is the 2nd door knob to fail here... Just to get the knob off I had to bend and break off the metal parts, since I could twist the knob and nothing would happen...

The broken waste receptacle cover(the big white flat part between the two blue parts).

Part of the broken hinge...

The small bedroom door knob, I might be able to replace this with one that I don't use, which also has a plastic part(in pink).

The door minus a knob, the bolt is reversed now so that I can get the door open and yet still latch the door.
