It was absolutely horrendous last night. 03:30-ish and I was awoken by the loudest thunderclap I've ever heard, followed by quite a few more over the next 45 minutes. Bit scary when the flash and bang happen simultaneously.

Best of luck for your stepsister and the people in the area.

Message 1544490 - Posted: 19 Jul 2014, 17:30:55 UTC - in response to Message 1544464.

Hi Zapped. I stayed overnight Thursday at my brothers place in Marlborough, and there was a terrific thunderstorm at 2 am Friday morning, lightning everywhere, amazing there was no building damage. The Step Sis is staying with her daughter in Fort St John, we still don't know if her place will be OK.

Aye, it was quite a show here. I think if it had gone on for much longer I would've ended up with snow blindness :)

110F/43C is predicted for Friedday, not as bad as it could be, but still that's a good day to hide.

90F is far to hot to be comfortable for me Uli.

That is dry heat Chris. With the humidity you can get in Europe, I would be sick. Headaches and dizziness.

So far, the nasty stuff is staying north of the kitties.
Might come further south tomorrow though.
What is really tough for me is having to be at work when storms come through and not being able to be at home with Tigger II, Bandit, and Purrball.
I know they get a little scared when the weather raises a ruckus.
When I get home, they kinda peek out one by one from wherever they were hiding with big kitty eyes to see if Dad's really come home to protect and comfort them.

Mostly clear. Highs 99 to 102. Southwest wind up to 10 mph

High of 104F/40C...

Now that's Hot, you'd need something to drink, cause the heat here rips the moisture right out of one.

At 10:50 pm, the temperature is still 80F. The dew point is an ungodly 75F. Humidity is 85%. Heat index is 86F. The forecast is for a minor cold front to go through (there is a line of small storms, not amounting to anything this far west so far). It's supposed to drop to the low 60s overnight, then only upper 70s tomorrow.

I think there might be a mosquito in the house.

Here the temp is 95F, dew point is 11F, humidity is 4%, be prepared to hide or drink some water, Brita filtered here.

Sounds like the rain just got here. Possibly some hail; that was reported farther north, but it moved out over the lake. And did I just hear a wee bit of thunder?
