Message 1560323 - Posted: 21 Aug 2014, 22:16:14 UTC - in response to Message 1557924.

It's correct. Showing a "No Team" does not make sense. The other both years the effect was not so much...
So we'll fade out this 'team' from team statistic (and in same way missing country information from country statistic). ASAP (I think tonight after work I'll begin).

To the other addressed point (data center vs. home user) - this year no changes. But I invite all in preparation of a possible fourth event next year to make proposals for alternatives. Please use the contact form on event page or send me a PN. (Our brain trust is not so big ;-) )

I see Groups as a BS - people join them according to expectation which one might win the race. I think Teams are more important - the teams recruit members to join WOW Event, not groups. The development of the number of The KNI!ghts Who Say Ni! proved it: 2 in 2012, 76 in 2013, 134 (so far) in 2014. This is a team spirit, not some-kind-of-so-called-Group-based-on-who-know-what-non-relation-between-members.

Groups are non-important, Teams and Users are (regardless if the users are real people or datacenters).

Thanks you for such great challenge. Cheers, NI!

ETA: I demand (also backwards) the recognition for the team KWSN (finished 3rd last year and running 3rd this year so far) and I demand the recognition for the Knight Who Say NI! JumpinJohnny whos effort led in recruiting 132 Knights Who Say NI! for WOW Event in last 2 years. Thank you very much dear Sirs.

I was actually also thinking that awards go to Top 3 overall, Top 3 for their nations and maybe Top x (debatable) inside teams - if a minimum number of members participated for nation/team.

The groups I didn't even know what to do with, so I just joined the one already having a member of my team.

It only dawned much later on me that those are the 12 sky constellations used for astrology/horoscopes ;)
(and I thought astrology and astronomy doesn't go together too well *g*)

I perceive nations similarly to groups - unimportant at all in terms of the challenge. We all join a team and crunching for it and for our team-members. Not for "groups", nor for "nations". Some of us want to fly solo. No problem for me, they just can not be classified in "team ranking", just in individual one.

Makes sense... and it supports the spirit of international cooperation for a common goal across all nation and team borders :)

I'm fine with the way it is btw., it's my 1st time in that challenge anyway...

Doesn't astronomy still use astrological references to describe where things are located in the sky? Such as the Virgo Cluster.

The Wow!-Event is going on, but the registration page is disabled.

Everything went right for 2.5 events but yesterday the Wow lost its innocence. Until then, it wasn't hard to subscribe, even for other accounts. But yesterday afternoon, somebody found funny to register new crunchers every minute (randomly in different teams and different groups, so I can't and don't want to speculate about the culprit).

However, as I'm working during the Wow, I don't have time to loose on a wild goose chase, the registering form has been deactivated (and will stay like this this year). For the next event, we will need to find a new way of registering.

In this context, about 80 crunchers were deleted (I try to verify the registrations and I hope I didn't delete honest and interested crunchers).

I'm really sorry for that but we have enough honest crunchers this year, and really, there was enough time to register before. What we have achieved doesn't have to be weakened by a false record of members.

Sad news to hear. :/
Perhaps a form of CAPTCHA may help if it was automated. I normally have to do 3 or 4 to pass one anyway. I swear I am human!

Thanks for your efforts.

I guess that that record would be down to 1 person who processes more work than the whole GPU Users Group does. ;-)

Cheers.

Well, when one is in possession of more computers than anybody else, they win, I guess.
I am still wondering just who he is, or whose pockets he is digging into.

Just curiosity, a very fine contribution to the project's crunching.
