Message 1545274 - Posted: 21 Jul 2014, 13:09:34 UTC - in response to Message 1545261.

A report from the doctor who studied TWA 800,

The blast force from the missile that slammed into a Malaysian plane over Ukraine, combined with the plane’s dramatic deceleration, probably instantly rendered everyone on board unconscious or dead.

That’s the best guess of James Vosswinkel, a trauma surgeon who led a definitive study of TWA Flight 800 that exploded and crashed off New York’s Long Island in 1996, killing all 230 on the flight. The Malaysian plane carried 298.

Dr Vosswinkel’s research found that trauma in a mid-air explosion occurs from three sources: the force of the blast, the massive deceleration when a plane going 800km/h stops in mid-air, and the impact of the fall.

Additionally, the loss of cabin pressure can cause hypoxia within seconds at 33,000 feet, leading to loss of consciousness.

‘‘You have such horrific forces that it’s essentially unsurvivable,’’ said Dr Vosswinkel, chief of trauma and surgical critical care at the State University of New York at Stony Brook, in a telephone interview.

"No one was conscious or experienced that fall."

Hopefully very few seconds!

But Waldock said...

While it would have taken the plane minutes to fall from 33,000 feet, hypoxia would have rendered anyone who survived the initial blast unconscious within 30 seconds

Do you ever read anything people post or do you just skim it and then only make comments that usually have only very limited relevance to the subject.

TWA 800 happened, we are not discussing why it happened, although that has been covered to most sensible peoples satisfaction as being a build up of fuel vapour ignited by an electrical spark. Not some silly conspiracy.

Reference to TWA 800 is relevant as the trauma suffered then will probably be similar to what happened with MH17.

Poroshenko said that so far international professionals do not have access to the place of the crash!
"Long 96 hours of waiting to get on the site of the tragedy and to start an objective and impartial investigation," the President said.

Russian-backed militants continue to obstruct the site and force those inspecting the area to hand over any evidence that emerges.

“Russian mercenaries have stolen all the diplomatic mail that was being carried by the airliner, and the terrorists are stealing documents from the dead bodies,” Lysenko said.

I fully expect Putin will deal with the perpetrators of this crime in the time
old fashion way that the Russians do. If I were the person who pulled the trigger
on the missile I would have emigrated by now because Putin is going to want your
head on the block.
Putin's finger prints are all over the trigger. Like Tony Soprano he will wack his hit man to keep him from talking.

Anyway, it's not as if Russian support of a belligerent in a civil war is a bad thing. Worked out pretty good for the Vietnamese.

Welcome Daykay...

Makes no sense. As usual.
It does to him as he posts to annoy.

Rebels agree to victim retrieval, to hand over black boxes: Malaysia PM

KUALA LUMPUR—
Malaysia has reached an agreement with Aleksander Borodai, leader of the separatist group in eastern Ukraine, to retrieve the bodies of the victims of MH17, Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak said on Tuesday.

I hope it's true.

Maybe Aleksander Borodai finaly realised that black boxes are in fact orange.
It took him 4 Days to figure that out:)
But Borodai also told reporters on Sunday yesterday that his forces had not found the Boeing 777's black box flight recorders. He maintains that his forces didn't have the military capability to shoot as high as the Malaysia Airlines jet was flying and blames the Ukrainian military for downing it.

If any of that were true the thugs would have let international investigators on the site within hours, not days.

Really? You sure about that?

"They will not report that the crisis in Ukraine started late last year, when EU and US-supported protesters plotted the overthrow of the elected Ukrainian president, Viktor Yanukovych. Without US-sponsored "regime change," it is unlikely that hundreds would have been killed in the unrest that followed. Nor would the Malaysian Airlines crash have happened."

Members of the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission (SMM) in Ukraine have been given full access to the Malaysian plane crash site in the Donetsk region, the SMM said in a report on Monday.

Which means 5 Days without access since its dark in Ukraine now.

What does that have to do with him saying Ukraine shot down the plane? That belongs in the Crimea thread.

Members of the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission (SMM) in Ukraine have been given full access to the Malaysian plane crash site in the Donetsk region, the SMM said in a report on Monday.
They are not experts in law enforcement or air crash investigation. This could drag on for weeks before experts are given access to the site.

Oh nice, he just switches the responsibility around. Nope, its not the Russians that are causing chaos and instability in Ukraine by supporting rebel factions with military hardware, it is the Ukrainian government that refuses to cede a large portion of its country to those rebels because of the regime change that happened even earlier. And even though technically the rebels fired the missile, from a weapons system they got thanks to the Russians, but its still somehow the fault of the Ukrainian government that this crisis wasn't handled quickly enough.

That whole article only proves one thing, and that is that Ron Paul is a horrible idiot.

The song was written about the pain and loss Clapton felt following the death of his four-year-old son, Conor. Conor fell from a window of a 53rd-floor New York apartment building owned by his mother's friend on March 20, 1991.

You guys are tough critics.

I think 5 days is pretty realistic time to have 300 bodies collected and refrigerated ready for transport, and to have located black box in wreckage spread over 5 miles of a conflict zone.

That kind of operation isn't easy to run under normal circumstances.

Really though it's as if you all completely fail to recognise that lies of omission, misinformation and outright deceit, otherwise known as propaganda, works in both directions and is especially prominent when the facts are obscured.

I'm just cynical enough to question unsupported allegations and look for facts and reasoning.

Wreckage is spread out over 10 square miles, I doubt it has all been collected.
