Likely because they reject that Hamas has to be defeated.

The believe there is some sort of magic diplomatic fairy wand that will make "every one lived happily ever after."

Being offended by the knowledge that sleeping children and babies lying on the floor of a shelter beside their mothers died should NOT have to be defended by anyone :(

+100 :(

YES!!!!!

The Israeli's MUST destroy Hamas.

What a Hero!!

Why your need to assist those who believe the NAZI's were correct?

You still haven't answered the below question. Posted a number of times.

How would YOU Defeat Hamas, a mass murdering, cheering the murder of children, Hitler Loving Organization? Not what you wouldn't do. But what would YOU do?

Your answer, or non-answer, will probably only confirm what we believe about those who excuse, or hide their heads in the sand, regarding this EVIL (Hamas and the other Jihadists).

If anyone here sounds like Hilter, I'm afraid its you. :/

A non-answer.

To answer your question there is nothing I can do, it is up to the two sides to do it. If either is unable to or unwilling to forget the past then both are doomed to this barbaric life.
As for defeating Hamas, that will never happen, the only thing that can work is to render it irrelevant.

This, I think, is one of the most honest and appropriate responses to the massacre in Gaza. At least there is hope for some of humanity.

Oh dear... did you guys not see my answer to the question? I know some people did because they very kindly plus-oned it :)

Perhaps you just didn't like it? :) Or was it too long? (I do drone on a bit at times I know :/)... but it's a bit tiring answering someone's question, only to find the same person asking the same question three pages later and then affirming with others that no one has answered it at all... bit like having a conversation with my mum who has alzheimers to be honest... *sigh* ...I really don't like quoting myself, but it looks like I might have to...

where anniet answered Clyde's question :) (Why not skip to the underlined bit and read from there? Save a bit of time?) Obviously if you didn't like reading it the first time you don't have to read it again - but it DID answer the question... and it sort of kind of said pretty much what these guys are saying anyway (which means Es also answered the question - along with several other posters)...

Statement by Israeli academics July 2014

The signatories to this statement, all academics at Israeli universities, wish it to be known that they utterly deplore the aggressive military strategy being deployed by the Israeli government. The slaughter of large numbers of wholly innocent people is placing yet more barriers of blood in the way of the negotiated agreement which is the only alternative to the occupation and endless oppression of the Palestinian people. Israel must agree to an immediate cease-fire, and start negotiating in good faith for the end of the occupation and settlements, through a just peace agreement.

Okay... based on the reasoning expressed in this thread... that must mean these Israeli academics (alongside all those orthadox Jews in London who turned out to protest Israel's actions, and the Israeli peace protestors in Tel Aviv) must ALSO "believe the NAZI's were correct" and they must TOO be supporting a "Hitler Loving Organization" whilst they "excuse, or hide their heads in the sand, regarding this EVIL" Hamas.

Can that REALLY be true? Are you SURE you guys are reading what has actually been written, because not ONCE on this board has anyone excused Hamas. Nor have ANY of those groups I've mentioned above done so. All that has been given are reasons for how and why such an organisation came into being, and how to loosen it's grip on the region and ALL its people (Israeli's and Palestinians). Terrorism does NOT occur in a vacuum. It doesn't just spontaneously happen. Address the reasons and you weaken the power base. You give people other things to think about - and better lives to lead.

The Israeli's MUST destroy Hamas.

How?

They've been "destroying" them for over twenty-five years in much the same way as they are "destroying" them now. Which is... let me see... oh yes... not destroying them but nurturing them. The Israeli's have some of the best weapons in the world, and those weapons DO seem to be very good at killing people... So if we can't blame the tools, what are the people using them doing wrong? We're talking a very small area of land with nowhere to run to - hardly Afghanistan. At least when Mossad goes around bungling its international assassinations and kills Moroccan waiters etc, etc, instead of their intended Hamas targets, only one poor unfortunate innocent dies at a time.

...and the biggest dog in this room that is not barking is this...

I don't know - one minute we have elephants being shunned and the next it's mute dogs... can't wait for the 500lb gorilla :/

Okay... the Egyptian government has been a recipient of huge American subsidies every year – almost two billion dollars in 2010 – courtesy of Israel. It started as a reward for the Egyptian-Israeli peace treaty, and the pro-Israel lobby in the US Congress could stop it any time. (In fact they may have, or were certainly talking about it after the military "oh no that's not a coup" coup last year.) Either way, politically and economically... Egypt has long been a mess... and with a nuclear Israel and Hamas's links to the Muslim Brotherhood (Egypt's main opposition - until they got rounded up of course) on it's borders... it cannot afford to rock the boat. Up until around 2010 Egypt blockaded the surface border with the Gaza strip but turned a very blind eye to the tunnels beneath it. And then president Mubarrak received a state visit from Netanyahu. Within weeks Egypt started sinking steel pillars deep into the ground along their border with Gaza and turning water cannons and tear gas onto those Egyptian citizens who protested about it. Does make one wonder what was said during that state visit doesn't it?

As Rabbi Arthur Waskow of The Shalom Centre says:
When the most extreme Zionist, Vladimir Ze’ev Jabotinsky, wrote 80 years ago about erecting an “Iron Wall” against the Palestinians, he did not dream of Arabs doing just that.

Rabbi Waskow also says:
As an Israeli, I protest against the Israeli blockade. If I were an Egyptian, I would protest against the Egyptian blockade. As a citizen of this planet, I protest against both.

Does that mean he ALSO "believes the NAZI's were correct" and does he too support a "Hitler Loving Organization" then...? Or has this Rabbi somehow managed to keep his head OUT of the sand?

@Hev: Thank you for the link below. Made me cry too :(

How would YOU Defeat Hamas, a mass murdering, cheering the murder of children, Hitler Loving Organization? Not what you wouldn't do. But what would YOU do?

Not taking a particular action is taking an action by itself. Saying yes to one thing inevitably means you say no to something else. Asking what someone would do and not what they would not do just means you do not understand the English language beyond its literal meaning.

But let me help you by rephrasing the 'not this' answer in a way you can understand. So, what would I do? I would respond by not being provoked into military action, I would respond by having experts help me understand the dynamics that fuel the conflict, and based on their findings I would change those dynamics. In order to defeat Hamas, I would make them an obsolete and irrelevant organization, cut them off from their support until they simply give up.

I hope that is literal enough answer for you.

Interesting piece on Aljazeera, In Israel operation in Gaza, a clear sign of Egypt’s distaste for Hamas

The view from Cairo, said Elgindy, has since been “characterized by much of the Egyptian intelligentsia and media, as well as senior authorities,” treating Hamas “as being a criminal organization linked to the Muslim Brotherhood.

And on France24 Egyptian media applauds Israel’s Gaza offensive

Since the beginning of Israel’s offensive in Gaza, much of the Egyptian media has laid the blame squarely on the Islamist group Hamas, which controls the tiny Palestinian enclave.

Some journalists have even said that all Palestinians are to blame for their current plight.

Israel’s escalating attack on the Gaza Strip has triggered worldwide debate. Egypt is no exception.

But there is little of the traditional Arab solidarity towards Palestinians to be found in the Egyptian media.

Adel Nehaman, a columnist for the Egyptian daily El-Watan, said bluntly: "Sorry Gazans, I cannot support you until you rid yourselves of Hamas."

Azza Sami, a writer for government daily Al-Ahram, went so far as to congratulate Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Twitter: "Thank you Netanyahu, and God give us more men like you to destroy Hamas!"

Star presenter of the Al-Faraeen TV channel, Tawfik Okasha, an ardent supporter of Egypt’s military regime and known for his firm stance against the ousted Muslim Brotherhood, attacked the entire Palestinian population live on air.

“Gazans are not men,” he declared. “If they were men they would revolt against Hamas.”

Not much of a surprise given who runs Egypt and what they did to the Muslim Brotherhood, which is linked to Hamas.

...makes a right feck of this then...
That's just your opinion then in my book, I have my own opinions obviously.

No surprise here...
Gaza operation to resume

As been mentioned, we have shunned elephants & muted dogs, well here is the 500lb gorilla...

We have the United Nations, USA & others rightly condemning the situation in Gaza. However, with Islam having 25% of the world's population, where are those nations condemnation? Where is the consolidation into one people to put a stop to what is happening?

...hmm, is it because they much prefer $$$ like Quatar & Fifa in the disgusting situation regarding the 2022 World Cup? Not paying their foreign workers for over 5 months with some not being paid for a year & those workers living in camps with squalid conditions?.

Probably the only hope that we have for the Islamic world to stop preaching violence to all who disagree with them is when the Wives and Mothers start telling the men to start "Acting like men".

Excellent statement & one I agree with. However, that is the main issue with the Muslim world! Why do you think they keep their women covered & treated as second class citizens?

I fear that the whole telling men to start acting like them is part of the problem. Masculinity is linked to violence far to often in far to many cultures.

As for the 'condemnation' from the rest of the Islamic world, most countries are not supporting Hamas or the Palestinians in this. Doesn't sound like they approve of Hamas firing rockets at Israel.
