Hamas has rejected an extension of the cease fire and has again begun shooting rockets at civilians. Obviously exterminating Israel is more important than their own people's humanitarian needs.

As it would be an extension the terms are the same; you don't shoot me and I won't shoot you.

An interesting read Hev - thank you :) This IS off-topic I know, but the piece mentioned apartheid South Africa... which made me think of the sanctions that were brought against that country...

If you'll forgive my being nosy for a moment... How many supported that and/or boycotted their tainted goods? :) And how many bought products "made/produced in Israel" then? Some canned fruit perhaps? Orange juice maybe? So many many things :) How many know that Israel was the middle man, the sanction breaker, the arms dealer and profiteer, that propped up that regime?

A sad truth from Channel Four news correspondent Paul Mason (covering a peace rally in Tel Aviv where those attending it were beseiged by angry pro-war mobs):

It’s a great word, humanitarian. It signifies there are certain positive beliefs and behaviours associated with being human.

Those returning to Shijaiyah found a moonscape.

The pictures show scenes that, if the suburb had been hit by an earthquake, would have prompted the arrival of rescue teams from across the world. But Shijaiyah was hit by Israel, so “humanitarian” means simply the right to dig with your bare hands for the remains of loved ones, or a lifetime’s memories.

(edit: ahem... just in case... and to avoid any confusion... Tel Aviv is in Israel and Shijaiyah is in Gaza.)

Probably someone fired a rocket from close to the school, think the IDF wouldn't fire back, because of the location.

On other news. Hamas and North Korea in secret arms deal

Israel agrees to 24-hour Gaza ceasefire
Israel has accepted a UN request for a 24-hour ceasefire in Gaza, but warns the army will act if it is breached by Palestinian militants.

A crisis cabinet meeting extended Saturday's truce until midnight on Sunday (21:00 GMT).

The move comes despite Hamas militants firing rockets after they rejected an earlier attempt to prolong the truce.

Note who were the ones who again fired first.

http://abcnews.go.com/US/wireStory/chief-alarmed-rockets-put-gaza-site-24685070
The U.N. secretary-general on Wednesday said he was "alarmed" to hear that rockets were placed in a U.N.-run school in Gaza and now "have gone missing," and he demanded a full review of such incidents.

A statement by the spokesman for Ban Ki-moon expressed the U.N. chief's "outrage and regret" at the placement of weapons at a site run by the global organization. The U.N. says that has happened at least twice so far in the current fighting.

Yes, looks like the UN is hiding missiles ...

Maybe Canada would like to partition off a chunk of land the size of Israel so that they could leave that god forsaken middle east and live in peace with nice neighbors on all borders. Im sure that, That would finally end the crap that goes on in said middle east region.
Look, When you have countries that border you and want you dead, And say so in the world press. And when they get sick of rocket attacks and decide enough of this crap. You smarmy elietists say, Oh that is so wrong.
Well launching rockets against another country is wrong. But I guess Hamas gets a pass on that.

How would you fight, as defined by the UN as a Terrorist Organization (Hamas), who calls for your extermination, and daily attempts to kill your children.

No need to list Israel's faults. HOW WOULD YOU, starting today, stop Hamas?

Not by dropping bombs on schools, hospitals and civilian infrastructure. Win the hearts and minds, give the people of Gaza a realistic alternative, superior alternative to martyrdom and Hamas rule.

Great article, debunks every claim of Israels innocence that has been floating around here.

Breaking news on BBC

Hamas announces new 24-hour Gaza ceasefire with Israel

Palestinian militant group Hamas has announced a 24-hour ceasefire after Israel ended an earlier truce amid continuing rocket fire from Gaza.

A spokesman for Hamas said its ceasefire would start from 14:00 local time (11:00 GMT).

Israel earlier resumed its military offensive in Gaza after a short pause as Palestinian militants continued to launch rockets at Israel.

So it's okay for terrorists to use schools/UN buildings as cover for their attacks?

So take a gap year & visit Israel. Come back in 6 months & tell us the same thing. Then go back but this time to Gaza & watch terrorists place rocket launchers in schools, come back & tell us the same thing.

I can predict with a certain accuracy that doing such a thing will not suddenly make me think that two wrongs make a right or that Israel using disproportionate violence on a civilian area and civilian infrastructure is acceptable or morally and ethically correct.

Besides, have you read the article I linked. The argument that Hamas only uses schools as storage facilities is an unproven claim by Israel. So far there have only been two verifiable cases where this has occurred, yet Israel is bombing almost every school they see.

If I didn't have SAM's or anti-tank weopons I would also be hiding wherever I could hide. Right or wrong? I think it's about staying alive when the opponent strenght is more then 1 to 10.
