The consequences of WW2 made the Jews realise if the continued to submit to all atrocities committed against them since Roman times there wouldn't be any Jews left. So now they react to threats and attacks, and some condemn them for it.

That's like saying you'll let the redcoats return & burn down the White House!

Will you let that happen?

It is obvious why they attacked. It was a red CROSS van, not a red CRESCENT van.

The piece was not "compassionate". At least to the Jewish People in Israel, whom Hamas, and other Jihadist's, repeatedly state they wish to exterminate.

And every day attempt to kill off another piece, rocket by rocket.

Don't be so f***ing cryptical Clyde, I'm trying to have decent conversations around here and if you don't like it, just don't read my posts is my advice to you.

This is the "politics" forum. Perhaps you would be more comfortable in the chit chat forum.

US and European airlines halt Israel flights

US and European airlines suspended flights to Israel's Ben Gurion airport after a rocket landed one mile (1.6km) away.

The US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) ordered three US carriers that fly to Israel - Delta, United and US Airways - to halt flights for 24 hours.

Europe's aviation regulator is also urging airlines not to fly to Tel Aviv.

The suspension prompted Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to ask the US to renew flights to Israel.

A compassionate piece of writing by Gabor Maté in the Toronto Star..

By: Gabor Maté Published on Tue Jul 22 2014

"As a Jewish youngster growing up in Budapest, an infant survivor of the Nazi genocide, I was for years haunted by a question resounding in my brain with such force that sometimes my head would spin: “How was it possible? How could the world have let such horrors happen?”

It was a naïve question, that of a child. I know better now: such is reality. Whether in Vietnam or Rwanda or Syria, humanity stands by either complicitly or unconsciously or helplessly, as it always does. In Gaza today we find ways of justifying the bombing of hospitals, the annihilation of families at dinner, the killing of pre-adolescents playing soccer on a beach."

Full article

Beautiful dream of Israel has become a nightmare. Everyone ought to be sad at what the beautiful old dream of Jewish redemption has come to. Everyone ought to grieve the death of innocents

Just finished the article.

The piece was not "compassionate". At least to the Jewish People in Israel, whom Hamas, and other Jihadist's, repeatedly state they wish to exterminate.

Thank you Clyde for reading the article.
I'm sorry that you didn't find the article compassionate. If people have no empathy for the slaughter taking place in Gaza, there is nothing I can really say about that.

That is such black and white thinking. Its going from one extreme to the other. Not submitting to attacks does not automatically mean committing war crimes against a large group of people. And doing this is not exactly making them any new friends.

When you consider what the extreme was 70 years ago, it has swung that far. If it had then the West Bank and the Gaza Strip would most certainly be populated with different people today, if not since '67 then '73.

He said he could neither confirm nor deny that Hamas fighters were near the building, but said Israel and Hamas "must respect the inviolability of UN premises, and humanitarian law".
The UN has also previously criticised the Palestinian groups for using UN schools to hide fighters and weapons.

Finally some truth and from an Arabic news source.

As news channels go - Aljazeera is pretty good. Of course... I MIGHT be biased... because they don't ignore the continent of Africa like some do at times :)

Protests turn deadly

"Hamas leader Khaled Meshaal told the BBC he wants a ceasefire and end to Israel's blockade as soon as possible.

"We don't want to be controlled by a border crossing that makes Gaza the biggest prison in the world," Mr Meshaal, who lives in exile in Qatar, told BBC Hardtalk."

Why? What stunt did he pull?

Perhaps more amazing since the head of Hamas lives in Qatar where Al Jazeera is headquartered.

I wonder what he & the UN would say if Israel went about this in a different way...

...pull the tanks & aircraft out & for every Hamas rocket that is launched, Israel launches one back, got to be a lot cheaper...

...their rockets would be a lot more effective!

Just what would be the international outcry at that?

Nearly 750 Palestinians and at least 32 Israeli soldiers have been killed in the fighting, which intensified last week when Israel launched a ground operation to destroy tunnels used by Hamas to deploy a regular stream of rockets into Israel.

Where will it end? :'(

Instrument of surrender, but that likely won't be in my lifetime. Far too much is riding on it being a stalemate for another 1000 years.
