I think I am committed to making the move. But if the landlord called me right now and told me the deal was off I would feel relieved, for a while. I know that eventually I will have to do something. This mobile home I am in is so old it is only a matter of time before something major will need repair or replacement, like most of the flooring. Keeping a means to continue my hobby is very important to me and even though moving will mean a reduction in the scope of my slot car track it will assure me that I will be able to afford to stay there after next August. I feel this may be my best opportunity to prepare for the future and I will just have to dispose of most of the stuff I have accumulated over the last few years.

Hi Bob, first off I just wanted to wish you the Best in your move. as we get older some of us ... well sort of get set in our ways. I noticed that in my self. I'm now rapidly approaching my mid seventies and I don't know what I would do if I was told to find another place to live. all I can think of is to hope and pray that everything will turn out ok for you. I get the impression, after talking to the owner, that he hopes to sell the property at some point in the future to a major commercial developer. The surrounding property is residential and agricultural but the location is next door to a major airport. the airport bought a lot of other land on the opposite side and did some industrial development that due to the current economic slow down has few occupied spaces. I don't see where this property's location will attract a major development anytime soon as most of the surrounding land is low and swampy.

Being in a wheelchair I don't have a great deal of furniture. A small living room set, a bedroom set and a bunch of bookcases I use to display my models in. I'm just going to have to buck up and take most of my stuff to the local flea market and unload it. I could start a long thread on how it seems that one person's junk get bought up by someone who regards it as a treasure, as long as it is cheap enough.

I read back over this, and your lot and garage rent are really sucking you dry, Bob. The dimensions of the garage where you have the slot car tracks set up is rather large, but you said you don't have a lot of furniture to move, so couldn't you bring what's in the garage over to the new house, even if you couldn't set it up?

Cinches it for me. He is thinking about himself, not you. Future too uncertain for The Owner's Property.

It's all about Self-Interest.

In my civil engineering career I worked on the planning for many commercial and industrial sites. This property has some obstacles that may make such development too costly. But if he does go that way maybe I can work a deal to prepare the necessary site planning drawings and documents in exchange for a long term place of residence. I'm not a registered engineer but I know a couple that would work with me on this.

I can tell you that statement is true. My wife went to high school with a girl who comes from poor family. When the wife and I clean out our junk we give it to her so she can sell at a garage sale, Or keep what she wants. It works for both of us.

Well, as I kind of suspected after not hearing from the property owner all week he has withdrawn his offer. Like I said I am immediately relieved but now back to a point where I have to find a solution to my upcoming financial crunch.

Well, I suppose it's better to have the rug pulled on you now than when your rent contract was up for renewal in 12 months Bob. That was something that had been bugging me about the offer, and the fact that he had plans to sell the property in the future.

I wish you the very best with coming up with an alternative solution! Keep us posted :)

I'm sorry the deal won't happen, Bob. Lately what I've been saying to myself is hope for the best, plan for the worst.

I think that while we were meeting last week he realised what he would have to do to make the house habitable for me. Plus I think he hopes to turn the property to a commercial developer that will buy the entire block and build a small industrial park.

I knew all along that it woulds be somewhat expensive to make the improvements and assumed he was truly interested in helping me solve my upcoming financial problem. As it turns out he is just a normal American businessman and real estate speculator, Like I responded to his email, I was disappointed by his decision but not surprised. Maybe he can find himself another renter to watch the property that doesn't have so many needs.

I'm going to eventually move from where I am, I think, first I need to build a credit score to 640, save nearly $2,000.00 and slowly raise My credit limit on My Cap One card to $3,000.00, the 2 combined will pay for a down payment(0.5%), closing costs, moving and utility startup costs(Electricity, Water, Gas and Trash), I'm going with a county based program that will grant Me 3% of a home purchase price and get Me a mortgage, then I can live nearer to My relatives, as where they live is too expensive for Me to rent. So in the next few years I have to make some purchases and deposit more money into My secured credit card.

Me neither, but a mortgage will allow Me to get out of this buggy place where I live at now.
