Hi - I am sure this question must surely have been asked before but I cannot find the thread.

I love the animated graph screensaver, which I think I could switch on anyway outside of the screensaver.

What have I forgotten to do to get this hypnotizing graphic to display again?

BOINC Manager->Simple view->Task commands->Show graphics.
BOINC Manager->Advanced view->Tasks tab->Select a running task->Show graphics.

This works only on CPU tasks, not on GPU tasks.

This only shows graphics. Where do I turn on the Screensaver itself that shows that globe-type graphic. All I get is the boinc graphic loading on and off the screen, and the globe graphic flickers on the screen for half a second then back to the boinc loading graphic.

The same way you turn on any screen saver. In the control panel, and select the BOINC screen saver. There are settings on the BOINC screen saver to tell it how much of which piece of the screen saver to show.

The problem was that I needed to change the setting on the percentage of CPU usage. Once I did that it works fine.

The screensaver is working, sort of.

The classic graphic comes up, but there is no graphic activity on the bottom half.

In addition, the graphic is on screen for about one second, then the BONIC graphic comes up for about one second. It goes back and forth like that.

Is there a way to go back to the days when this screensaver worked without problem?

Run BOINC screensaver for .... never
Run Project screensaver for .... 1 hour
Switch between project screensavers every .... never

The flickering of the screen saver (fast switching between the BOINC screen saver and the project screen saver) is caused by the BOINC 7.2.42 client. something (unknown) changed between 7.2.34 and 7.2.42 that made it do this. It can only be fixed by either going back to 7.2.33, going forward to the latest development version --at the time of writing this post, that's 7.4.12-- or by temporarily disabling the screen saver.

- BOINC 7.2.33 for Windows, 32bit version
- BOINC 7.2.33for Windows, 64 bit version

- BOINC 7.4.12 for Windows, 32bit version
- BOINC 7.4.12 for Windows, 64bit version

Where do I turn on the Screensaver itself that shows that globe-type graphic.

By the way, there are only two projects that have a globe-type graphic in their screen saver, these being Einstein and ClimatePrediction.net

These graphics only show when a task of Einstein or CPDN is running, not when Seti is running. Each project that has an own screen saver application, reacts on running tasks of that project. Not all projects have a screen saver application, which is why BOINC has a screen saver built in.

The seti screensave flashes, then goes off. I have stopped new tasks, let the old ones run out, then reloaded the programs. No change. The screensaver worked on an old laptop but not on this new HP Envy laptop. I have tried several message board suggestions, no luck. Is the program code itself off?
