The price of gasoline has fallen over 30 cents in the past week or so, and I'm not complaining.

$3.63 for a gallon of gas here in Louisville, Kentucky, on Sunday morning, July 13th, 2014.

What is it where you are?

I quit watching gas prices years ago.
I went though the big scare.
I just put the nozzle in the tank and pay the bill.
When the gauge gets low, I do it again.
What the intermediate determining factor is does not change the fact that between point A and B, the tank gets filled.
Just like my electric bill. It comes, I pay it.
When I can no longer do that, things shall have to change.

The lowest I've seen here in Prescott, AZ. is $3.37/gallon (USD) for regular unleaded, and that particular station just happens to have (almost) always been the lowest in town (an AM/PM station, originally owned by BP, but franchised-out now).

£5.95 per gallon equivalent to $10.18.

That's an awful price, Chris.

That's a very good way to look at it. I tend to do the same.

I'm surprised it's that cheap there.

At last look at the brand names; the Chevron on the four corners of Crow Canyon Road, and San Ramon Valley Boulevard was at $4.25 for Regular. That was over a week ago; it might be, (and most likely is), higher by now.

...and, don't forget that the two Senators, (one Republican, and one Democrat), are trying to pass a bill to raise gas taxes 12 more cents per gallon nationwide!!! :-( (Senators Chris Murphy - D, and Bob Corker - R.) Vote them both out of office in November!!!!! :-/

Vote them out!!! Bad Senators want to raise gas taxes.

It's a vicious circle Gordon. There is still a world recession on, and the UK is recovering from a double dip one. In those circumstances the first thing that people do is to economise. In practice we do not fill up our tanks and pay whatever it costs, nor do we put X gallons in the tank either. We put in the tank whatever amount we can afford per week or per month to purchase. If the price of petrol goes up then we get less fuel for the same money, and therefore we have to drive less miles.

Well, I understand. I don't drive very much. I live 3 miles from work. I live 6 miles from my mom's house. I fill up the tank when I see a good price at the pump.

If the price of petrol goes up then we get less fuel for the same money, and therefore we have to drive less miles.

But of course the petrol companies are too thick to understand that, so when they see their profits flat-lining they put the price up again, so we in turn drive less miles again for the same money. But that of course is the private motorist, corporate motorists, and the transport industry pay whatever and write it off in tax allowances.

1 in 3 petrol stations in the UK have closed down in the last 10 years because the imposed fuel duty makes it uneconomic to run a business. The only ones that survive are those with a car wash or mini mart on the same site.

Out here the local Shell station is in the final stages of rebuilding the station, a new larger building and a new island were added, the new building is has according to the sign, a subway restaurant, 1st one in Yermo, that is better than driving to Barstow some 12 miles away, though gasoline at Shell is about $4.799 a gallon, I go to whomever is lowest, sometimes that is Food for Less or 'Flying J' or Pilot, right now Pilot is lowest at $3.959 a gallon, Pilot and Flying J are also Truck stops.

Just paid $3.899 a gallon at Costco in Azusa, not including rebates. The Shell station kitty corner was $4.149.

Convert that to price/gallon, and you are paying more than us.

The Mobil station near where I live gas is $3.83 a gallon. A mile from where I work is a Gulf station where it is $3.69 a gallon. I fill up every Friday.

I just filled up at the "cheap" gas station for $3.97 per gallon. The next nearest station is the Chevron at $4.21 per gallon. (Regular Unleaded, both stations.)

There's a little neighborhood station near me that is always at least 10 cents higher than stations even a mile away, but people still buy it there out of convenience.

Well, the Chevron and the "cheap" station are half a mile away from each other. The Chevron is near the freeway, though...

As I have to drive by the cheaper station on my way to wotk anyway, thats where I get my gas.
