My issue is my BOINC client starts during boot and, I am unable to find a checkbox to untick or, any other setting that I can change to disable this.

Needless to say the sneaky fu***** at Berkley put a string in the code somewhere and left out any way to disable it.

Unless I am missing something.. can someone help me with this?

I'm on Linux Mint 17 mate.

When you installed BOINC from the Berkeley download page, you have to manually start it using scripts. If it starts automatically anyway, you've done this yourself.

When you installed BOINC through repositories, it starts as a daemon, automatically, at system boot-up. Do know that these repositories are being maintained by the package maintainer of your Linux distro, not by anyone from Berkeley.

Without further ado, just check at the Ubuntu/Debian section of http://boinc.berkeley.edu/wiki/Stop_or_start_BOINC_daemon_after_boot to be done with that.

Thanks for the reply.

I already found the thread you are referring to and it didn't work.

Also, I don't seem to be the only one having this issue and, others are not using Linux.

So, this is no fault of mine. I guess I will just have to remove it.

Thanks again for your reply.

Interesting that you're quick to deny fault when no one is blaming the user, and you're using Linux, which is known to be a geeky do-it-yourself OS. I'm surprised you're giving up so easily and ready to remove BOINC. Perhaps the drive to find solutions and the interest in SETI isn't that great for you. I do wish you well and sorry to see you go.
