Inveterate Thank you, I was hoping to speak with your esteemed colleague Sidney. He promised me a dalliance in the dales but before we had chance his eyes were distracted by the charms of another. Sidney, not lacking in confidence, began bragging about his culinary skills. Once she'd sampled his knickerbocker glory she was smitten. The blighter, wait 'till I get my hands on him. I know that beating egg whites poses no problem....I know from experience that a swift wrist action can make almost anything stand up stiffly. |

Officers Mess 47A Silk Road Khyber Pass UR1 IAM2 My Dearest Muriel, How exquisitely delightful to renew our previous acquaintance, this is indeed an unexpected pleasure. There have been many times that I have reminisced about walking along with you along Gasworks Lane, with a warm bloomer in my hand. Ah, the memories that come flooding back. Apros pos the promised dalliance in the Dales, it was unfortunately curtailed by circumstances beyond ones control, which could not be appropriately accommodated at the time. Not for one moment was I unfaithful, I merely showed the usual courtesies to other female company, as one would of course expect from a gentleman of proper upbringing. The very thought of the promise of future assignations, has prompted me to ask the Club waiter to procure for me a large Pink Gin before Dinner. Perhaps that will help my knee trembling, of which I recall you are an expert. I beg to remain you most ardent admirer, Sidney J. Snodgrass (Retd.) Late of Her majesties 3rd Foot & Mouth Will Muriel Miggins ever be mine? |

Hello Byron, good to be reacquainted once again. Now Sidney, what am I to do? As much as I know you will keep me entertained with your tales of daring do and nights up the Kyber, I will have to wait until I have returned from the Opera. I've been giving some tuition to the singers. The director was quite impressed with what I did with the baritone. He now wants to see what I'll do for a tenor. I know that beating egg whites poses no problem....I know from experience that a swift wrist action can make almost anything stand up stiffly. |

:)))))) *gasp* please *gasp-giggle* my tummy hurts! :))))) Oh Mr Snodgrass Do please forgive the tardiness of my response. I have, for one and one half of a day, been somewhat indisposed by the vapours... They are indeed posing a vexing mystery for which I have no answer at this time. One momentary interlude I am reading your most agreeable communique... fluttering my albeit singed superciliums, yes, but indeed in the rudest of health... and the next... well I am overcome with bouts of sudden and most inelegant SNORTING akin to the braying of... well... several deranged donkeys on their first sighting of cheese. I now fear (with tremulously beating heart) that the delight you expressed upon making my acquaintance may have been hastily penned and a little premature given this most unseemly affliction I have so hurriedly contracted... I of course, remain transfixed with joyous exuberances at the prospect of your return to Blighty! :) if indeed that is an eventuality you are still willing to countenance given my deplorable lapse from the finer graces. Were you to brave these shores, and I fail to gain entry to a tea-room and you by some good fortune serendipitously enjoy throwing warm cheese baps in zoo's... that would be just as delightful an assignation! :) And now having come across the further delight of Mrs Miggins's posts in this thread (dearest lady, and dare I say sister - a curtsey :)) I fear Mr Snodgrass that you may have done some injustice to one so fine as she. I hope reparations can and will be made as it would please me greatly to bray at such a fine couple as you and Mrs Miggins, hand in hand, passing by my enclosure without so much as even a cheese bap in my direction. |

Mahmud Ghaznavi Club 18A Kebek Street Landi Kotal My esteemed friends, I am indeed gratified by the kind regards received from one AnnieT, to whom I send my most heartfelt thanks, and kindest regards. I also wish to acknowledge receipt of the communication from "S" delivered post haste by the hall porter from the Officers Club. I shall in due course be replying to both, but I think it would be eminently more suitable if that eventuality was expedited in the Best Friends location, rather than here as at present. With exceeding kind regards, Sidney J. Snodgrass (Retd.) Late of Her majesties 3rd Foot & Mouth Will Muriel Miggins ever be mine? |

It's so good to see that there are still gentlemen out there willing to fight for my honour, but, alas, that boat set sail many years ago and has seen many a port in a storm. Then there's the Holy Handgrenade, I know He's around, but that's all. I read somewhere he was in Thailand (????) or somewhere on holiday (?????) (please note - I am VERY confident of my first two words... the rest... not so much :)) |
