They are not separate when the legal system has been set up in such a way that it disadvantages you if you are a certain race.

Since the legal system, statutes and laws, exists on paper you will be able to cite the statute(s) that are unfair. If you can't cite specific examples ... and if you can I'm sure NAACP and ACLU would love to file a SCOTUS case to have it overturned.

Clyde, you are right about ES not understanding it is individual people not the system that are the issue. If we replaces the people implementing the laws with unthinking robots, then she is saying that there still would be racism. I say, point out where in the law it calls for it. No the issue is the individuals who work in the system. That makes the problem too deep for binary thinking and intractable. Sure doesn't make for a good slogan to chant while you loot and riot.

Now the question is, will posters realize the law isn't the issue and individuals are? One course seems like a kindergarten playground primal scream because things "aren't right", the other an adult way of discourse.

If you beleive a person is quilty or innocent then vote your conviction and tell the damn browbeaters to go to hell. A mistrial.

Did that happen in Ferguson. Dont know, Havent heard a peep out of any of them that were on the grandjury. We dont even now what the vote was.
But all the BHL's say it was rigged.
And to ES, I dont think anyone in this thread has said racism does not exist in the US. I know it does. Ive seen it up close and personnel with my son in law and grandkids.
But for you to label us who have a different opinion on the grandjury verdict as racists is wrong also.

The fact that so many people are still arguing over what the evidence shows suggests there should have been a trial.

The prosecutor did not do his job and present the evidence to show there was grounds for a prosecution. What he did was extremely rare.

And here in the US that is why we have grand juries. There whole purpose is to determine if there is enough evidence to have a trial. What do you not understand about that?
Was this grand jury missled? Were some jurists browbeaten or worse threatend to vote the way the DA wanted or there fellow jurist put pressure on them? I havent a clue and neither do you.
Untill some jurists talk, I will go by point of law. Not social media mob rule.
