Nice result.

http://www.news.com.au/national/victoria/terror-at-home-numan-haiders-journey-from-suburban-teen-to-jihad/story-fnii5sms-1227069638644

Sorry to bring this to light again, but just what is the difference between national police forces & their weapons?

"About 7:40pm
Victoria Police Officer he stabbed fires a single shot, killing Haider"

That cop was wounded yet with a single shot, kills his assailant. Not looking good for America...

Why?

Exactly how many persons either during military service, police service, when defending your life, or others lives, have you seen shot, or much worse.

Please explain, citing each instance, what the result(s) were?

Oh... Now I get it. You really believe Hollywood Fantasy's.

& you're an ex-cop making statements like that? No wonder America is in the ****can with their police.

1: I've seen a well built man shot (single shot) & dead by the time he hit the ground.
2: I've seen an average sized man shot several times, (rushed to hospital & survived).
3: As for shot or much worse, a hell of a lot & none of it pleasant.
4: Have I shot anyone? Yes - where when why & how is no concern of yours. I will say even one is one too many.

What I will say with all the evidence seen on this thread as well as other news sites, Yanks are too gun & trigger happy.
Edit:
BTW No's 1 & 2 were handguns.

Then we have a case of shopping while black, in which no charges will be brought against the cop. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/09/24/john-crawford-iii_n_5876574.html?utm_hp_ref=crime

If he was waving a gun around in a shopping centre, i'm not surprised he was shot.

Actually the person who made the 911 call has recanted what he told the cops back on the 9th. So, as I said - shopping while black http://www.rawstory.com/rs/2014/09/man-who-called-911-in-ohio-walmart-shooting-changes-his-story-after-viewing-video/, and here's what John's father is saying about the shooting http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/09/25/john-crawford-father-wal-mart_n_5882808.html, meanwhile yesterday the justice department stated it will review the shooting http://www.theguardian.com/world/2014/sep/24/walmart-shooting-grand-jury-declines-indict-john-crawford.

Sadly, I don't think the person who made the 911 call will be charged with filing a false police report. I hope that someday he will be charged with a wrongful death, as he caused this man's death for no appreciative reason.

A different case

You, and other's, do make silly comments (one handgun round will suffice), and really don't understand. I'll leave it at that.

Incorrect, there are those here who do understand. What I cannot understand is the American propensity to empty their guns.

There are numerous recorded instances where one round was indeed fatal! There are others where multiple rounds were required. That's not what I'm debating. From the links provided by Cliff, I watched the video.

You really do love your guns! Also, only the one report from a "failed" marine that was acted on?

All your points were noted, however from the evidence seen as well as all the posts on this thread, don't your cops have anything between their ears?

Personally, I don't think so, or on the other hand, if you do, they certainly ain't brain cells!

It stems from police unions like the Los Angeles Perjury Protection League a/k/a Los Angeles Police Protection League. They have forced police departments to adopt policies that prevent injuries, such as hair being mussed, by the use of deadly force. All members of these unions will write reports indicating that the shooter was in mortal fear of his life. It is only when half a dozen of more videos of the incident showing something else which their perjury can't cover up is there any problem. Otherwise every object in a hand is a gun pointed at an officer. Personally I think it is high time the people who write the ploicy and procedure manuals permitting this got indicted along with the cowboy cop who shoots first, asks questions later, and toss in a charge of aiding and abetting to the union bosses.

Yes, a few more cops are going to get hurt, but far more innocent civilians won't. If a cop doesn't like his chances for what he is paid, he can always take up a safe job like trimming palm trees.

Cops are no different but they do have something the others above do not...

Knew it would come down to this statement.

But you forget why cops. Cops are the cannon fodder of the local government. Their purpose is to put their body between corrupt officials at city hall and the citizens hell bent for their skin. They aren't being paid for their brains, but for their brawn. They are supposed to get hurt. It is in their job description.

Right Wing ... Left Wing

Since both right and left agree then everyone in between them agrees as well, so it is unanimous.

Regardless of that agreement...

What a society!

"The reality is that ten thousand gun deaths a year is simply “normal” for American society."

And it also seems to be ingrained into the american psyche that they can't understand why much of the rest of the world thinks having so many guns around is a bad idea.

Being able to just walk into a shop and buy a lethal weapon designed (specifically designed mind you) to kill, without having to prove that you should be allowed to own such a weapon is mad. Yet, because many americans are so attached to their guns, any attempt to correct this state of affairs results in much shouting, anger and threats of violence.

This is what's wrong with America, and the solution is simple, but they can't see it.
Life on earth is the global equivalent of not storing things in the fridge.

I wonder what those people will say if, god forbid, any of them contract Ebola?

Healthcare worker: You got Ebola?
Cop: Yes
Healthcare Worker: Lie there & die, We're putting our safety first
Cop: It's your job to protect us
Healthcare worker: So was yours!

Years ago when we were going to Mexico from our Navy ship
we always had a very healthy respect for their cops. I may
also add that we also had just as intense an attitude toward
American police. We were all checked out on how well they
used their firearms. As Canadians there were European, Native
American, Asian and other citizens in our crew who would be
considered less than human if there were ever a situation in
the US. We always were on our best behaviour while taking
care to never put ourselves in any position that could
compromise our lives.
