‘This is not going away’: thousands protest chokehold death

Black man dies in police custody. There's only limited details but sounds like murder.

This was posted back here 3 weeks ago, though the link no longer seems to work now.

Cheers.

Nice link which only backs up my previous post...

"A Single shot from a policeman’s gun knocked one of Drummer Lee Rigby’s suspected killers into the air as he charged at officers with a meat cleaver.
The impact sent Michael Adebolajo flying several feet across the road where he lay in agony."

Now based on what has been posted, was police officer living in a Hollywood fantasy world or was he experiencing it for real?

I didn't see a http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heckler_%26_Koch_MP5 being shot by the cops. In the USA generally it is a pistol. The linked article did not mention the kind of ammunition being fired, or if the suspect was wearing body armor. That makes a big difference in the rate of energy absorption of the person hit

In any case imparting sufficient kinetic energy in a projectile to send someone flying through the air would be close to enough to break the wrist of a person firing a pistol. You do remember for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction.

Gary...

Researchers: Police likely provoke protestors — not the other way around
New research from Berkeley shows that police are often the agitators of violence

I've been on many protests and I can vouch for this. I've always been able to tell when the police have been about to start something, so I've left at that point.

There are web sites publishing articles claiming that local gang members were paid by the police to act as agents provocateur and start the fires and the looting.

I don't know how much credence to give this, but it's not beyond the bounds of possibility.

I've heard that too, but I was waiting to see if it turned out to be a fake or not. I know for a fact things like this have happened in the past in the UK, (with undercover police infiltrating political protest groups and then being the ones most likely to start trouble on protests).

Job security to the chief and it makes them look like a leader to the protesters so they are let into the inner circle. It is despicable.

Another Missouri cop, Michael Pappert, suspended over personal comments made on Facebook.

http://www.news.com.au/world/missouri-police-officer-dan-page-im-into-diversity-i-kill-everybody/story-fndir2ev-1227034529974

The police department in Glendale, another St Louis suburb, said on Friday it had suspended one of its officers who had expressed contempt for the Ferguson protesters on his Facebook account.

“I’m sick of these protesters. You are a burden on society and a blight on the community,” wrote Michael Pappert, in one of at least five posts that have gone up since Sunday.

“These protesters should have been put down like a rabid dog the first night,” he added.

In a reference to the Boston Marathon bombing, he also wrote: “Where is a Muslim with a backpack when you need them.”

Also Ray Albers, a cop for the St Louis suburb of St Ann, was suspended after pointing a semi automatic assault rifle at Ferguson protesters and using obscene language threatening to kill them.

A very sad state of affairs going on over there. :-(

Cheers.

And that should be a learning lesson to the young folks who just love social media. You do not need to post every thought that comes to mind. And show pics of you doing doobies while holding a bottle of Jack Daniels half naked. Well stupid is as stupid does.

Tomorrow, Monday August 25, 2014, there will be a "Celebration Of Life" service, for Michael Brown. Let me explain, "Celebration of Life" or "Homecoming" are what we in the black community more commonly call funerals. So please take a moment of silence for him and all of God's children that have died at the hands of Law Enforcement past, present, future; be they black, white, green, pink or purple.

Ive seen plenty of newspaper pictures of cops pointing guns at protesters. Again just adds to my argument that the American military is more disciplined when it comes to firearms than the cops. They know you should NEVER point a gun at anyone unless you intend to pull the trigger. Its basic firearm safety.

There are many video's on Cable and the Internet showing very bad, perhaps despicable behavior, by the Officer's in that part of the country. In addition to verbal threats to the News Media.

I do understand Small Town Ferguson Police were 'over their heads' in this. But, the St. Louis County PD?

Having been involved in major incidents, where the News Media were present, and later assisting them: Find the actions of MANY (not one - two) Officer's to be troubling.

What is going on in that part of the Country?

My friend, it's not just that part of the country, it's happening in every state and now with social media you will see more of it; mark my words.

Apples vs. Oranges.

In general: The Military points guns to Kill their enemy. The Police point guns to Threaten (happens 100's, if not more times, every day, without any discharge of the Police guns).

The Military is not trained to point their weapon's at an armed enemy, and ask them to 'cease and desist'.

The thing is that in this way, the military is far more effective at de-escalating a situation then the police. People that point guns at you and with their fingers on the trigger are going to get a much more negative response than people walking around with guns pointed at the ground, their safeties on and their fingers not on the trigger. So it seems weird to me that the military follows much stricter rules on how to walk around with their guns than the police.

And why would you even need to point a gun to 'threaten' someone who is very clearly unarmed. Its reckless and it violates one of the core principles of safe fire arm use: don't point it at anyone or anything you don't want to hit. Seems that unarmed people would always fall under the category of someone you don't want to hit.
