Plus she has to pay back all of the welfare she ever received.

Upon further review welfare has to be paid back when one receives SSI or wins the Pennsylvania lottery. I guess I'm still on the hook for her welfare even if she gets a billion dollar judgement. Sounds fare to me.

Upon further, further review PA HB1489 is still pending.

Tough room. I'm going to stick to religion threads.

Something is up between him and the NYPD. This is the third suit he has won, the first two were for false arrest.

Why didn't this facility, who houses severely mentally ill patients, have a security staff?

The patient was hiding in his room when two officers, one a women, attempted to extract him. A jail house extraction takes 5 padded and helmeted officers.

USA has a crazy control problem.

This appears to be a civilian who shot the gunman. He most likely saved some lives.

The "criminals"

Still lost. Are you saying the police are the criminals in this story? Mental illness is not criminal.

No, of course not! It's just that the police could use other methods sometimes, but I guess they're no psychologists:)

"psychologists"? They REALLY have no experience with these people 'on the street' (been there when they tried). They didn't work.

Police should 'try this - try that' doesn't understand that every situation is different, and can change second-by-second.

Well trained policemen should be able to handle any situation in a professional manner, however, they regularly abuse their position and 'power' (been there when they tried...)

In a scripted Hollywood movie, yes.

Real life incidents are much more complicated. I guess it is difficult for those with no real experience, in these situations, to understand.

Just a Real Life Experience regarding 'Professionals' (did find it very humorous, but telling).

Man was threating suicide by jumping off Elevated Subway Tracks. While we (Police) where talking to him, and setting up airbags, near a Large Hospital. An older man was standing next to me, observing. Suddenly, a younger man rushed up, saying to this older man "He's my patient, I can help". The older man looked sternly at this person and said "You've done enough damage, leave". I couldn't stop laughing.

Says a lot about 'Professional Training'.

I understand Clyde. I don't know how the US police force works, that's right. It's commonly known here in Belgium though that cops can be real ***holes and I don't want to offend any policeman by that who works in an honest and correct way.

Yes. And don't forget this event started when a nurse lost control.

Unfortunately, a lot of the populace in general is under the mistaken hollywood impression that there is some magic word that if spoken will make a mentally ill person be rational even if momentarily. Doesn't exist. Unfortunately ugly is the method, if the burrito wrap doesn't work or can't be used.

Pinnock has filed a federal civil rights lawsuit against the officer and CHP Commissioner Joe Farrow, alleging the officer used excessive force.

Woman videotaped in CHP beating was walking into traffic, report says

A woman who was seen being beaten by a California Highway Patrol officer on the 10 Freeway earlier this month was “talking to herself” and tried to walk into traffic on the freeway, according to a report obtained by The Times.
