I would think most men here have wallets in the 20+ year lifespan. Mine is at least that age. My mom told me the other day she thought I needed to get a new one, but I don't think so. I think this is sort of a man thing, our obsession with holding on to an old wallet. It has lost some weight recently though, as I've trimmed down it's out of date receipts, and business cards. Wish it was fat with money. ;~}

Mines probably 6-10yrs old, soon enough I'll get a new one as this one is showing some wear and tear.

I had an 80's style velcro wallet when I was in high school. The sound brings back memories, because apparently they still make them. I hear them from time to time.

Wear and tear on a good leather wallet is par for the course. I wouldn't get a new one unless it couldn't hold my stuff anymore.

Age, or working age?
I think I was gifted the one I'm now carrying at least a decade before I had to put it in use.
Good leather wallets last a long time.
The real issue now seems to be finding a good one. So many today are chintzy or don't have the necessary storage space for all the damn plastic you must drag around.

Working age is what I'm talking about. Mine has been packed pretty well over the years with stuff, and I'm trying to reduce it.

That's a good wallet.

I have only ever had two wallets that I can remember over a 15-16 year or so span. I believe I got rid of the first one just because it looked tattered, but I bet it could have lasted a little while longer.

My current wallet is at least 5+ years old.

I have a lot of work to do if you say they usually last 20 years!

I don't think that I've ever had a wallet last more than 8yrs.

Cheers.

Now.. this is a true story.
A year or so ago, Lori bought me a wallet for Christmas.
Not knowing quite what to do with it, I still have it sitting alone on the table..........
I still am not sure how to deal with it.
She wished it to be a fine gift...........and I suppose it was.
I just cannot deal with expending with my wallet of so many years.
It's just impossible. You can imagine....I have my original SS card in there.
57 years old and impenetrable. Not that it has much worth these days with a c word like Obama being pres.
A lot has been lost since.

Not me. Tell me, dude, what's your name?

My curerent wallet is at least ten years old. I had to buy a new one as the cheap one I bought was well cheap and didnt last. past two years. The former good wallet lasted ten years also. I only replaced when the windows all dry rotted and fell apart. My theory on why guys dont like to buy a new wallet is, New ones hurt your butt untill they get molded in the shape of your cheek:)
That is when I also know when to thin out all the crap ( no pun intended ) that gets shoved in a wallet.

Mine is at least 15 years old. I sailed a lot with my former employer and he gave me my current wallet as a Christmas gift. It was made from kevlar sail material and sold by North Sails. This wallet has been through a lot and even though it has been suggested that I replace it I think it will go with me to the grave.

BTW it is not good for your back to sit on your wallet in a hip pocket. This was told to me by an orthopedic doctor over 30 years ago when I was having some back pain.

I buy new wallets almost as often as I buy new handbags.

I picked this one up during my honeymoon in Vegas in April because I thought the whale pattern was really cute.

Normally I pick handbags and wallets up when they hit rock bottom in the sales, but as a treat I paid full price for this one.

25+ years for my rubberized Velcro folder that stops the rain/sweat/dirt from getting in. Climbing wood poles and steel towers for a living I got into the habit of putting my wallet in my shirt pocket. I could never handle the bum bulge in my climbing gear. LOL!
