Having known many MENSA Members (Top 2% I.Q.): Doesn't really mean anything.

Ha, I have to agree with you. It is however, great for solving puzzles.

Some puzzles. One can have a 130 IQ and be dyslectic or have ADD.

So why should anyone now pay the water bill? I know I wouldn't.

To me it looks like some of those intelligent migrants from the south might have jumped straight to Canada.

Venezuela’s oil diaspora - Brain haemorrhage
Many headed to Alberta, in Canada, where the tar sands yield a residue that is similar to the heavy oil from the Orinoco belt, which Venezuela is struggling to develop. There were 465 Venezuelans in Alberta in 2001; by 2011 there were 3,860.

Pedro Pereira, who once headed PDVSA’s research into the processing of extra-heavy crude oil, came to Canada in order to set up a similar research team at the University of Calgary in Alberta. His work focuses on inventing and patenting new technologies to process Alberta’s crude. Three dozen Venezuelans have passed through the Calgary centre since its inception, around two-thirds of them as a direct result of the purge of 2003. All have gone on to work in the Canadian oil industry.

That speaks of your integrity. So at heart you are a self confessed thief.

Batter no you shamed yourself. Some people choose the high road the rest don't.

Only a capitalist 1%er would demand payment for a "human right". Have you no shame, at long last have you no shame?

Any one else find this bizarre?

PETA will pay water bills for 10 Detroiters willing to go vegan

When I saw the headline I thought it must have something to do with them worried about pets going without fresh water...but nope..

Now I'm a vegetarian, but to use people's distress to push being a vegan seems really off to me.

Whoever said that PETA wasn't?

I remember posting a few other links in several other threads over time about the bizarre/offensive/stupid/weird (and/or) stuff that this group gets up to.

Cheers.

A new site lets you help pay Detroit residents’ water bills

Meanwhile, a local attorney has filed a class action suit against the city on behalf of residents, claiming that the shut-offs – which fall overwhelmingly on black households – are racially motivated.

http://detroit.areaconnect.com/statistics.htm
White 116599 12.26%
Black or African American 775772 81.55%

I'd like to know how it couldn't fall overwhelmingly on African American households?

Detroit city council

It is some sort of racially motivated scheme?

I suspect a lawyer who needs clients and a publicity scam to try and get them .... and a journalist who should know better than to publish mushroom food.

Are you suggesting that Detroit was left to fail because most of its population is black? Much the same way no one was sent in to help the Hurricane Katrina victims?

Of course not.
"The city of Detroit, Michigan filed for Chapter 9 bankruptcy on July 18, 2013."
"In October of 2012, President Barack Obama triumphantly declared he "refused to throw in the towel" and "let Detroit go bankrupt.""

The people in the picture, and their predecessors, must have just flat out mismanaged the city. There is no way President Obama did a Katrina on Detroit.

And you had better start worrying ...
http://www.cdfa.ca.gov/statistics/
In 2012, California's 80,500 farms and ranches received $42.6 billion for their output. California remained the number one state in cash farm receipts with 11.3 percent of the US total. The state accounted for 15 percent of national receipts for crops and 7.1 percent of the US revenue for livestock and livestock products. Exports totaled $18.18 billion in value which represents an eight percent increase over the previous year.

California's agricultural abundance includes more than 400 commodities. The state produces nearly half of US-grown fruits, nuts and vegetables. Across the nation, US consumers regularly purchase several crops produced solely in California.

You do understand that every fruit, nut, vegetable, chicken, cow, pig shipped out of California has a lot of California water in it? You also realize California supplies a huge portion of the food you eat. Are you getting a bit hungry yet? Wallet getting squeezed having food flown in from another continent?

Understand the sigh in Spanish and you will begin to understand the issue. There is water in California, but it is reserved for the delta smelt.

For the short term the delta smelt are ok but in the long run if the drought continues much will change including the fish.
