Kudos: The staff at Berkeley for keeping things running as smoothly as they can with their very limited resources.

Gripes: WHERE ARE THE AP WORK UNITS? There used to be a time where we got a regular diet of them, now the drips and drabs that I getting is killing me. I'm lucky if I get 3 or 4 a month.

Gripes: None, because whatever complaints I have, there's always someone who has real problems that are much worse than mine. :)

Kudos: Another thanks to the S@H staff for their hard work, and a related bonus -- emerging from the 17 Mar 15 outage (seemingly) unscathed!

+1 😀

Good to see the work flowing, but my Gripes-
People that get worked up over outages as though it were life & death. Sure it's disappointing, but it's not the end of the world.

People that start new threads, with the same (or very similar titles) to threads that are already there, and at the top of the page as well.

Kudos: The people who manage to keep their head in the midst of insanity.

Gripe: The ones who don;t read, start to shout, don;t listen to each other and generally fail to appear to be sapient. And those who are far too emotional about everything.

Kudos: People who helped me to optimize my system, it's running great.

Gripes: I couldn't optimize it myself.

Lesson: Learn something new every day.

My gripe of the day is that USB is no longer a universal standard because of the wide variety of connectors that it uses these days. I just bought a cable with 4 separate adapters, but it appears there are way more. Really wonder what the 'universal' is in Universal Serial Bus and what the 'standard' is in describing it.

Gripe: No standards committee ever votes to dissolve after it publishes, they always revise and republish incompatible gibberish.

Kudo: There are standards committees.

Gripe: Integrated intel gpu can't handle the screensaver.

Kudos: The extra Nvidia gpu can.

Context:
Spent much of yesterday trying to give nvidia control over it
with a successful outcome. =)

gripe: the forum software has recently decided that the preview button means post if the request doesn't get transmitted in whole or times out.

kudos: we have mods to get rid of double posts

Gripe: I still have to delete the partition assigned to dual boot for Windows 10.

Kudos: The upgrade to Windows 10 was flawless.

Gripe: that the "Science Status Page" hasn't been updated for over a year...

Perhaps the new lady can look into it? Or take the page down if you're not going to update it anytime soon?

Gripe: a number of my results end up in the Validation inconclusive (somewhere around 5%)

Kudos: They always end up being declared valid

you can use inconclusive as a gauge for your processing health versus the project as a whole. 5% or less is expected with good applications and the project in a good state. If either one goes up noticeably then it can be you, or the project having some trouble. (Why 5% is probably worth a whole other discussion)

Gripe: No automatic return to forum thread if I use the login link while in a forum thread. It goes to user profile instead, as if I clicked "My Account" on home page or the "Account" link in the menu bar while in community section.

Kudos: AP work units appears to be back!

EDIT: Second, but minor gripe:

Forum threads seems to have different number of pages for the same thread, depending on login status. An example is the "Panic Mode On (101) Server Problems?" topic in this forum section. Currently at 21 pages if logged out, 6 while logged in...?

These Forums are public - anyone can read them, but only logged-in members with a RAC >0 can post. When you are logged in, your "Community Preferences" control how many messages per page are displayed in the Forums. When not logged in, you are a Visitor, and Forum display is per the non-member defaults.

I never log out, just close my browser window when I'm done here.

Gripe-
People who ask a question that requires some information about their computer to solve, have their computers hidden, and vanish into the long grass when someone asks for that information.

An example of the information needed being they number and type of GPU installed.
