The descriptive comments at the beginning of gpu_list.php say:

// generate a page of the best-performing GPU models.
//
// "best-performing" is defined as minimizing the average of
//
// elapsed_time(J)/rsc_fpops_est(J)
// over completed jobs J currently in the DB

That does appear to be what it's doing, with some minor special cases like not going back over 30 days in the DB.

The primary flaw is that there's no compensation for running more than one task simultaneously, which generally increases productivity but also increases the elapsed time for each task. With app_config.xml allowing even those running stock GPU apps to use their GPUs more efficiently, that's a pity.

Anyhow, enthusiast cards are probably more likely to be running multiple tasks at once, but that flaw means those cards are not fairly compared.

Think I've settled on this as mentioned earlier...

http://www.evga.com/Products/Product.aspx?pn=02G-P4-2762-KR

$244.99

Price fits right into my price range.

Will it work with non-stock apps?

Should work without any problems. Congratulations on your decision. Hope you get to crunch on it soon so we can see how it does.

Congrats, Blurf. I hope it serves you well. So far, my EVGA GTX760 is performing very well for me. I think you'll really like your new card. :-)

Don't have a choice. I have a physical disability-don't have the manual dexterity for hardware work. No way my wife is going near the guts of my machines.

Unless you want to come to upstate NY and do the install for me? :)

You may find it will run a little better on CUDA 5.

Well Seti GPU processing times went from 15 mins to 10 mins so that is an improvement. How do I switch to CUDA 5?
